Hello everyone,

I'm going to be getting breast implants in a couple of months. I'm a pretty habitual meth user (most every day or two, binge on the weekends sometimes) but other than smoking cigarettes and pot I'm a pretty healthy person. Obviously I plan on laying off of meth for a bit before surgery, but I was wondering if anyone knows what effects meth has on healing?
I've read that meth speeds up cell regeneration. Is that true? Any idea what effects that could have on healing time, scar formation, rejection, etc? I've searched the internet for a couple days, and all I can find is anti-drug propaganda.

Thanks for your help!

Meth is going to be terrible for your healing.

While on meth it takes away your natural vitamins and youdo not eat as healthy so you deplete even more healthy vitamins in your body and you are unhealthy and this causes a long as recovery and is really bad for you. Dont smoke meth for at least a few weeks before and dont smoke while recovering.

Your doctor would have told you quit smoking for surgery so obviously if cig are bad for recovery and healong meth is fucking beyond terrible.

Good luck in surgery.

I had a couple friends who used meth regularly who got breast implants and it seemed to really slow down their healing and increase scarring. One also wasn't able to follow the doctor's instructions about not getting out of bed for the first few days and keeping her breasts bound for a couple weeks, etc, because she needed to go out and get her meth. Have you thought about how you are going to deal with your addiction when you are in the hospital and while you are recovering?

Personally I would really think hard about investing all that money in improving your health and working on the reasons why you do meth instead of geting bigger boobs.

Nutrition

I do still eat fairly well, inspite of the meth. I think I'm one of the few people who gets munchies on meth. It happens on coke too. :P

Other than bad nutrition do you think that there are other ways meth will impede healing?

I don't know, meth affects the body adversely in spite of how healthy you eat. The women I knew were very healthy as meth users go in that they still ate well and exercised and had good hygiene etc and looked very healthy. Both of them had really bad results in the healing of their breast implants. (I have known several other meth users who got implants and they all had bad healing as well).

Also you didn't answer my question: Have you thought about how you are going to deal with your addiction when you are in the hospital and while you are recovering? Are you going to be able to stay in bed for several days? Are you going to be able to follow all of your doctor's recommendations (other than not smoking meth of course)?

I know I won't have a problem being without for however long I need to to heal. I've gone without before when I was away with work for long periods of time (2+ months) without having any problems. Staying in bed and taking care of myself shouldn't be a problem because I have an awesome fiancé who will be waiting on me.

I tend to "spin-dry" a couple times a year to keep my tolerance down and make sure I've still got my life in check.

Okay, lets see here.........first off you should stop smoking meth, cigs & pot about a month before surgery & you should drink plenty of water & juices. Exercise & eat healthy a month before hand & at least a month after the surgery (after you are able to get out of bed & move around with the doctors permission). It seems you have a meth addiction & imo, you should not be getting this surgery (this is a serious surgery) if you are thinking of when you will get high after the surgery.

No offense to you but I laugh when people say, "im a pretty healthy individual except for my pot & cig smoking, oh thats nothing"........& to top it off, you have a small meth addiction.

Get your head to the right place & get off meth before thinking iof doing this surgery. Im assuming you are doing this surgery so you can look "hot" & show off your body? If so, start with getting healthy first..........if you want to start up with the drugs again, do so after you've healed nicely which will be several months.

Just so you know, im not judging you, just giving you the right advice when it comes to you body healing properly..........you definitely need to stop smoking cigs, pot & meth, smoking of any kind is terrible for your body, it slows your body down from healing tremendously.........

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.............
