Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone out there can shed some light on something for me. I'm a previous meth addict with over a year clean off the poison and I know a close friend of mine is currently using. She is honest with me about her use so I know for a fact she is still using. My concern is her husband has no idea she uses whatsoever and I recently stopped by their house to visit only to find her covered in sores from head to toe which is to be expected from meth use, but her husband who is sober 100% is also covered in what appears to be meth sores. My question is, can a spouse get sores simply from sleeping with/touching/sharing a bed with an active user? I've researched a little bit before posting this and found no info on the subject. I am 100% sure he is not using but I cannot explain how he would have gotten the same type of sores all over him. Anyone able to shed light on this would be a lifesaver! I'm open to any ideas anyone may have! Thanks! Stay safe everyone!

I would gamble my own heartbeat that her husband is not using. That is why I am so puzzled about his sores. I know the common thought would be that he is using too but I know that isnt the case so how did he get sores too? As someone who used for a long time I know it comes out of your pores and the only plausible answer I can come up with is it's from her touching him or sharing bed sheets that haven't been washed as often as they should and some of it transferred from her pores to his skin. I know it sounds crazy but I dont know how else to explain it. And I really am open to any ideas anyone may have.

If they both have the same sores I’d assume its from some other infectious disease rather than from meth. Sores from meth are not actually that common and they are certainly not contagious to a non-user. However, if their living conditions are tweaker level filthy I suppose its possible that the sores are picked up from the environment from bug bites.

If the husband is a good friend I’d just ask him what was up with his sores and had he seen a doctor / skin specialist.

I suppose her husband uses as well? Maybe he just asked her to never reveal it to anyone.
I know that heavy smoking can have some effects such as sleep problems but the dangers are true especially for infants that crawl on the ground and pets as they are more likely to touch contaminated surfaces, being as even microdoses would be way more active due to the low bodyweight.
Could he be using steroids and getting a fuckload of acne or are the sores in places where you don't get acne like shins and forearms? Is he tested periodically for work reasons?
How can you be THAT sure he is not using?

The husband and I discussed them briefly when I was there to visit and I could tell he is unsure of what is causing them, he knows nothing about her use and as a previous addict I dont feel it's my place to spill the beans on her using. He has not been to a dr but has tried every otc medicine he can think of in an attempt to get rid of them. When I was finally alone with her we discussed both of their sores and she openly admitted hers are from the picking that often comes with a meth high but was just as puzzled as me as to how he got them. This is what made me want to look into it further. And there is no way its bed bugs or scabies or anything like that, she keeps a pretty clean house and has 2 children that live in the home and neither one of them have any kind of sores on them.

I dont expect anyone to take my word for it as I am aware of how bizarre this sounds all I can tell you is I have know them both for well over 20 years and I would lay my life on the line he is not using nor has he ever used drugs of any kind. I just know he is in no way on drugs of any kind, it's not who he is as a person and if he found out she had ever done any type of drug he would likely end the marriage immediately! It's that serious of a thing to him.

Gonoreah can cause sores on the body - that might explain while the husband and wife have them and not the kids. There’s any number of diseases that could be causing them. The wife might be actually picking at sores/scabs that are caused by something other than meth itself.

Funny you should say that, one of the things I initially did when I started to look into this was check out all symptoms of STDs and looked at pictures online to see if they resembled either one of their sores, but from what I could see I found no similarities. I think I will suggest taking her to a gyno to be tested to be on the safe side but in my gut I really think it's coming out of her pores and transferring to his skin. I appreciate your input, I may continue my search on STDs and see if anything interesting comes my way!

I wanted to add I just sent her a text asking if any type of STD could be the cause of his sores and sent a few links on gonorrhea sores with other symptoms it causes such as painful urination. I will be curious to see if he has any other symptoms and will post more info if she says he does.
