Yes please.
Got some metaprolol here (45mg tabs) that I was planning for using in upcoming interviews.

Basically, what are the doses I should be taking, and what sort of side effects should I be looking out for?

This is just Lopressor. I guess it could help with some physical manifestations of anxiety, but I wouldn't expect much. Didn't know they made 45 mg tabs.

nAON, I'm not sure about anxiety but the dose for hypertension/angina/heart failure is more in the region of 100-450mgs. I don't think it is licensed for anxiety but it is prescribed off-label sometimes.. not sure about the dose.

I would recommend trying it out beforehand to make sure it agrees with you and work out the best dose. Side-effects-wise it can lower BP (obv) so you might feel dizzy or light-headed.. it's a selective beta-1 antagonist so it shouldn't have too many other side effects (although a quick look on drugs.com reveals it can also cause diarrhoea, drowsiness, headache, reduced blood flow to the hands and feet due to reduced cardiac output and various other things - most of which will be pretty rare).

Good luck in your interviews!

My grandfather is rx'd to take 100 mg for his blood pressure, 2 50 mg tabs twice daily. I think he only takes 1, though. Not sure. But, even when it comes to beta-blockers and the like, Lopressor wouldn't be my choice for anxiety.

Cheers for the info guys. It's the only one I currently have available, and haven't ever used other beta-blockers, so not much to compare it to here.

Feel free to lock thread unless someone has anything to add

I'll give it a bit more time to see if anyone has personal experience in using it for anxiety then close it :)

A lot of people find that Beta blockers do help with anxiety, as the physical sides are relieved, the psychological effects of anxiety ease as well. However, marked sedation might be a problem. Test one out a day before the interview and see how they work for you.

Inderal is a blood pressure medication used for anxiety. Metroprolol as far as I know is only for blood pressure. Make sure your blood pressure is well over 110/60. It can cause a drop in blood pressure causing you to be dizzy, heart to race, and pass out. That would be no good in a interview. Make sure your pulse is strong too. It could be more hurtful to the interview than good. I wish you lots of luck.

Think i'm gonna do it clean, i'm a bit of a hypochondriac and i'd probably just end up making myself paranoid worrying about BP etc. =D

I think that is a great idea. Maybe while you are waiting to talk to them you could bring a book or something. This will help distract your mind from the stress. Good luck. I hope you get the job :)
