NEMD Metal Up Your Ass! The MetalHeads Thread v.VIVIVI

Been listening to the latest album by Darkspace, titled Darkspace III I. I love this band but can only listen to them max 6 times a year but am enjoying this album. I just need another few years to enjoy it. They create encompassing ambient black metal; their previous releases (Darkspace I, II and III) were a lot rawer and less accessible, but this album is still hardly appealing. Extremely dark and over the top atmosphere that can hit the spot from time to time....

Very very cool stuff. Thanks for this, I don't think I've ever listened to ambient or atmospheric black metal before. Darkspace sounds super intense, I think I need to work my way up to that level of devastation!

Going to start with Solanum - Spectral Poetry, an oldie but it looks stellar! It sounds like it's really ambient stuff, very raw sounding too:

It takes a patient ear to get into this kind of stuff, very slow building, but once you're in, HOLD ON TIGHT!! Or let go, the choice is yours 8o

I hope your mxe makes it through customs!

cheers so do it should get here today :)

Most ambient black metal (or black metal in general) is pretty atrocious to me these days* but there are Darkspace and one of the bands members other projects, known as Paysage d'Hiver, who are really great at doing this stuff. I would start with Darkspace III if I were startin. :)

*overlistening maybe.

Yeah, it works on that :D I'll be interested to hear how you go....Though I find stuff like Boards of Canada or Mogwai more suitable myself.

Peace <3

It's about time someone posted this album haha!

Cannot top Burzum for black metal. Varg Vikernes sucks, he is a racist twat but with some incredible music, this being his finest:

So, your "Metal of the Moment" is 30 year old Megadeth?

<snore>

Maybe try something a little newer...

How can you legitimately say snore to Megadeth and then post that video?

Have you even listened to the first Megadeth album?
Seriously one of the best metal albums of all time.

I hope you're not one of those people who thinks everything old must be bad, because if so you're missing out on a lot in life.
It's completely irrelevant when it was written.

I listen to GOOD MUSIC from many time periods.

Maybe try listening to something good?
Sorry, but that song fucking sucked.
