Here's some more. If your a fan of dissonant, Deathspell Omega style atonal black metal, this album by Leviathan is perfect. Starts a bit more experiemntal, even death metalish, but gets into his more typical black metal style, if it could be called that-

^I could never get into Dimmu Borgir. I quite liked Enthone Darkness Triumphant when it came out, but I really find symphonic black metal to pretty much universally suck.

I do have a soft spot for Cradle of Filth though. They got me into extreme metal back in '97 with Dusk and Her Embrace.

Yeah Dimmu Borgir is probably the most symphonic band I'm into besides Emperor. Love Emperor... In The Nightside Eclipse was the first black metal album I bought and it blew me away. The whole atmosphere on that album you can just picture yourself walking in the frozen tundra.

^Yeah, ITNE has an unparalleled feel and atmosphere. Inno a Satana is one of the great 90's BM tracks imo.

^Nightwish are awesome.

I've been enjoying this band, Tyr, from Faroe Islands. Really interesting melodies, quite unusal at times.

This song isn't really, but its good...

Yeah I was really bummed when they fired Tarja. I think that was a huge mistake. I felt similarly when Pantera broke up. It's a shame to see bands break up or lose crucial members.
