FFS LMAO
I am a HUGE fan of Black Metal & sadly old enough to remember when Kerrang magazine went mad with cover photos of Varg back in the early 1990's when all the fire & murder happened in Norway, I have always found "Corpse paint" to be so dumb & 100% cringe, it makes the scene look like a joke to people in my view.
The worst is all these teenagers you see online who are fans of Black Metal & post images of themself in corpse paint & it's done so perfect, you can tell they have spent ages getting it just right.
This is a perfect example of what I am on about.
Dead AKA Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin used to wear corpse paint to actually look like he was "dead" he would bury his clothes in massive holes & leave them for a few weeks & then dig them back up so they smelled of dirt & rot, he wanted them to smell like a dead body, he would sniff dead birds & animals in a plastic bag to get the smell of death in his lungs.
I am 100% sure people like that Woman in the photo NEVER bury their clothes till they get to the point of rotting then wear them, find dead animals at the side of the road, stuff them in a bag & sniff them all through the day. Dead was legit in his attitude, he wasn't a poser like you get these days & that guy "Worm" in the photo is 100% REMOVED from what Dead tried to express in The BM scene as you can get.
My ex asked Fenriz (Darkthrone) about Corpse Paint & he rolled his eyes & said it had become a bad joke, the cover to their album "Under a Funeral Moon" does have a kinda creepy vibe to it though. It's actually Nocturno Culto in the photo who I wish I'd had chance to speak to when in Norway.
My ex is good mates with Fenriz & a few ex members of Gorgoroth, I wish I had known her before as I may have had chance to meet Hat, his vocal is the best ever in BM, how anyone can listen to Ritual - Gorgoroth & not be impressed is beyond me, I love that track so much it is Perfection in metal music IMHO. Darkthrone - Inn I De Dype Skogens Fabn off the "Under A Funeral Moon" is a close 2nd.
