mescaline & e - 2nd time - unbelievable!
Seems it’s pretty difficult to get hold of mescaline these days - even owning a Peyote cactus in the US is illegal now. I guess that’s why there’s a real lack of trip reports on here. So here goes…
Luckily for those of us dedicated to the field of mind expansion, there is a good source of mescaline – and it’s legal. The San Pedro cactus (trichocereus pachannoi) is pretty common in the US and Australia and contains mescaline alkaloids, but not in the same strength as Peyote.
The San Pedro is totally legal to sell and plant here in Australia. I bought a nice cutting - 2.5 feet long and 3-4 inches diameter. I ordered some from {edit = "somewhere"
}a few weeks ago but that cutting was too young and therefore only had a mild effect. It’s a time consuming process to prepare the cactus, but the results are well worth it! You have to cut out all the little spines, peel off the waxy skin with your fingers, then cut and blend the cactus pulp in a food processor. (I’m even getting pretty good at it now so I can get one ready in an hour! 
)
Then you're left with this vile, bitter tasting cactus drink. You blend it with lemon juice which takes out some of the bitterness but it's still horrible. We started drinking at 3pm and it took about an hour to drink 1 litre of it. About when we were finishing our drinks (4pm), the trip started to come on. The ride is a bit similar to LSD. It slowly builds with a buzzing inside your body. Your mood is enhanced, you feel good, things are funnier etc. The head tripping effect started to build after an hour too and gradually gets stronger. After about 2 hours we started to notice some visuals. I've got this Turkish carpet with cool patterns in it and it looked like the carpet had little ripples running through it. You try to focus on the pattern and it starts to move. At 6pm a couple of people dropped by and we were somewhat tripping, though definitely not at a peak or anything. We were just having a really good laugh, watching some old rock & roll videos etc. At 7pm the trip was really taking off. I was really struggling to do simple things. It took me an hour to get dressed! I was in this strange state of semi-confusion where any simple task seemed too demanding as there were so many distractions. I was also in a sense of awe about the whole thing. I felt like I was being teased by this spiritual side to it but I couldn’t quite grasp it. It made me want to learn about it’s use by native Americans. I was also noticing all these little things as all my senses were heightened. I could hear sounds I wouldn't normally hear, colours seemed more vibrant, inanimate objects had this glow about them and I could feel tiny imperfections in my carpet under my bare feet.
We left my place at about 8pm to meet up with some other guys as we were going clubbing. My mate drove and he was on the mescal too but hadn't had as much as me. He really struggled to drive. He said the water drops on the windscreen were splitting into darts of multi coloured light. We made it after stopping for some supplies. Once again I was very distracted and slightly confused, this time in a supermarket. The woman was giving me strange looks. We made it to my friends place and this is when I was really peaking. I was having an awesome trip and just couldn't stop laughing. We messed around there for a while and then went to a bar at 9 and then a club at 10. And I was still tripping hard!. That's a good 6 hour trip for something you can buy legally!! I had some pills and speed there but didn't want to take them as I was having such a good time on the mescal. I took an e at 12 when I was starting to feel "normal" again. The first one didn't seem to go real well with the mescal as there were only mild effects but the second one was good. I was having pretty strong hallucinations in the club. Seeing patterns on people's clothing, these burning colours on people's backs, tribal tattoo’s on their skin etc. In the morning we were at a friends place and I had some real strong ones. The leaves of this tree turned to crosses and started floating towards me before combining and then morphing into oily-like bubbles which floated down. Very cool! At home (fully 15 hours after cactus consumption) the walls of my toilet looked like they were turning to dust and disintegrating!
To me, the hit was a bit like a combination of LSD & shrooms. The visual and introspective side of shrooms, and the trippy feeling of acid (but not quite as strong). But there was a definite spiritual side I could sense there as well. I'm not sure what dose we took as it's impossible to measure. All up, it was a great trip. One of the best I’ve had. Not as intense as a massive shroom dose but great in a different way.
