Mescaline and amitriptyline?

Hi,

Really sorry if the answer is obvious and out there and I just haven't found it! I'm interested in trying mescaline, but I'm on amitriptyline as a daily medication. The only information I've been able to find is this - https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/PREVE...ssant_PsychedelicsChart_PsychedelicSchool.pdf - which suggests it isn't dangerous but I won't have experience any psychedelic effect (or it'll just be reduced?).

I'm just wondering if anyone has experience of taking mescaline whilst on amitriptyline and can confirm that, please? To me, I can't tell if that reads like mescaline will have no effect given I'm on amitriptyline, or whether the effect might just be reduced somewhat.

I’d have to look up the exact subtle pharmacologies of both to say if it would be dangerous ir even work.

But there will be a TON of interactions as Amitriptyline acts on a whole smattering of 5HT receptors and so does mescaline

I'm my experience tricyclic antidepressants seem to potentiate psychedelics. Although I haven't tried either of the substances you mention.

I think the amitriptyline will increase the effects of the mescaline. How much? I don't know. It's PROBABLY not dangerous in the physiological sense but potentially dangerous in you don't know how you will behave while under the influence.

If you're going to do this I would suggest you start with a threshold dose and see how it effects you and also have a trusted sitter present. Leave at least a week between sessions and increase dose slowly until you get where you want. And don't redose in a session.

That because there SERT activity Is stronger than It 5HT2 antagonism. Amitriptyline Is basically a SNRI with potent anticholinergic effects.

Thank-you, all of this has been really helpful info and I appreciate the input! It’s for pain so I’m on a lower dose than is used for depression but it sounds like it’d be a good idea to give it a miss.

I did 2c-b relatively recently and it went well, but it’s sounding like it might be a good idea to avoid psychedelics in general while I’m on amitriptyline? (Was hoping to get back into shrooms again also - I used to trip semi-regularly but haven’t in a few years now sans the recent 2c-b, and it’s not the end of the world if that stage of my life has passed now.)

Ya i think tricyclics can actually potentiate psychs but im not sure altogether. I was on elavil for like a year but i dont think i ever tripped on it.
