mesc extraction query

Swim is going to do 69ron's "Non toxic food safe extraction of mescaline using d-limonene"
However I have no idea where I would be able to purchase calcium hydroxide aka hydrated lime. There's virtually fuck all info I could find on google.

Has anyone tried this extraction before, if so if you couldn't get the food grade lime. What did you use?
 
Im guessing that ur using it to balance the PH yea? Sodium Carbonate would be a better option which is very easily obtained from a chem warehouse. Never heard of or read that tek but an A/B extraction would be much better yielding.
 
I've heard of people using vineger to improve PH, but I don't know anything about it myself, it might improve/unprove it the wrong way.
 
go onto a certain auction site we all know and love and type in calcium hydroxide lime and you should get some results and it isnt that expensive either, i will be trying this non toxic extraction soon, what cactus are you extracting from? let me know the yield you achieve as i have 60g of dried san pedro cuttings and by the looks of it i rekon i need a lot more
 
to the uk yes there are even a few uk based companys, look on google im sure u will find some

Will be using San Pedro. Will let you know how I go.

The main goal is to make the extraction brine really acidic so the molecules loosen so its easier to extract. Sodium carbonate will help with neutralizing it back to normal, it acts as a regulator. Adding vinegar will only make it more acidic.

Vinegar (acetic acid) >sodium carbonate>sodium hydroxide

Vinegar in a GHB synth?? We used to make GHB powder. Fill coke bottle up with ethanol slowly add sodium hydroxide and shake gently. Pour GBL liquid into a glass pan and add the coek bottle contents. U can do the same but skip the ethanol. (This was legal at the time where i was living, think it still is)

Is there a reason why one would not extract it into strong alcohol, filter it, and then evaporate the alcohol off?? This is a question out of pure curiousity, I never do this kind of thing myself.

It all depends if the active is soluble in alcohol or not. If it is and u evaporate it u will end up with a very unpure product as the non actives might be soluble as well and will end up in the final product.
 
Sustanon, our synths were never quite as dodgy, we never used ethanol either - just plain water. GBL > NaGHB, NaOH + h20 = exothermic reaction + GBL yields NaGHB solution, slowly boil off the water and wallah NaGHB powder/rocks. Obviously it's a little more involved than this... we never just chucked the GBL into the mix, we made sure we had the maths correct first, and slowly used a 60ml or so plunger full of gbl, adding maybe 5ml at a time whilst constantly stirring. our yields of NaGHB generally were > 100g. I'd also note that following the guides we used, the solution should have been neutral by the end, so we more than likely used a bit too much NaOH. I'd also comment that boiling of Ethanol is quite stupid over just a hotplate or naked flame, as it's ignition points are quite alot lower, you'd be wanting to use a fume hood so as not to allow any gasses to escape or find the heat source.

As the solution was generally quite alkali by the end, we'd use vinegar or citric acid (lemon juice) to balance it to neutral.

I know my synth method for ghb really doesn't go with the talk here, but i think the ph balancing techniques used are more than useful in the conversation.

errm i mentioned no heating the ethanol. It would be an idiotic plan to do so LOL Thats just asking urself to burn the house down. When adding NaOH i meant adding it very slowly. The ethanol heats up very rapidly when mixed with NaOH and u have to wait till it cools down. Same goes with water. So adding the Ethanol + NaOH solution would be added slowly with a syringe. (It should be cooled in a fridge before adding it)
 
Why not just do the blender / squeeze the hell out of the mesc / drink solution method that I learned?
