Mephedrone Megathread VIII: Hnnnng!

Well it isn't illegal is it as long as it's been prescribed.

That's what I meant by not quite.

As for the cocaine and heroin, I don't know of any cases of either being prescribed by a doctor in the UK for medicinal use so I'm not commenting on that without by lawyer being logged on.

heroin is prescribed for maintenance in some areas
ketamine linctus is prescribed on some occasions

etcetccccc

ITV just made a shocking report. They spent about 10minutes saying meph killed the kids, the parents echoing that fact before finally a reporter came on and said at the end as an afterthought "we don't know that mephedrone killed them we'll have to wait and see whatthe report says". No mention of alcohol or methadone.

I laughed out loud when that guy said they didn't even know what caused the death. The best was that kid in the police cell having a wobble and the anchorman going on about how some people never make it through the comedown.

Both John Snow and Dr. Les King on Ch4 news just called Mephedrone Methadone, and they keep pronouncing the ph as th :X :X
The rest of the report was shitty too. But Dr. King did say that they don't know of any deaths that are a direct link of Meph, so I suppose that was a plus :|

Dr. Les King was suprisingly awesome.
that must've been the one i caught the end of tonight, i didn't catch the guy's name. but he made some very good points about what will happen if the drug is criminalised. points that were, predictably, not addressed by the interviewer.

it's all kicking off, folks. ;)

*prays that methylone slips under the radar for a bit longer*

Yeah the boy in the cell was priceless, it said something about him acting like a 9 year old kid and being completely unaware of what was going on, just looked fucked to me.

wow listening on 5live is raging me, some woman on there who got gbl banned but hasn't got a clue what she's talking about.

I think the phrase you need to use is 'controlled substance" :)

Cocaine is (or at least was) used to make up an analgesic mouthwash for cancer patients that have painful gum / mouth damage from their treatment.

I now cant take anything written by newspapers seriously, if this is the level of research and accurate information that goes into an article about something as simple to dig up as the drone scene, then fuck knows how accurate the information about greater matters is.

...and this was the moment JonL left The Matrix

wow listening on 5live is raging me, some woman on there who got gbl banned but hasn't got a clue what she's talking about.

BBC Radio 5 Live used to be a really good radio station, but its been dumbed sown over the past year or two as to make it unlistenable :(

Since I didn't want to join them, I decided to write a big ol' phat review instead:

First off, the title... "M-KAT, for tramps who cant afford cocaine' ITS PLANT FOOD 4 FUK SAKE'S" ...

a. Many people who can afford coke aren't getting much coke at all. Most likely as Jodie said 10% average Cocaine, then Amphetamines, Sodium Bicarb, milk powder, Crappy Cocaine analogues such as Lidocaine, Procaine - for the ones that don't pass the Blood-Brain-Barrier - and Dimethocaine, pFBT [enter other Tropane here] for the ones that do.

b.Infact... You're probably getting Mephedrone and other akin compounds in yer coke, so I'd put down that "Lovely, pure Charlie" as well if you want to stay away from Mephedrone.

c. If you're naive enough to think it is actually a plant food then I really don't think you should be consuming drugs altogether [-_-]

I do agree - Mephedrone is dangerous, but it can be taken safely like any recreational drug. You need to RESEARCH as much as possible about it, you need to take into account your mental and physical health (why take it if you've had Depressive / Anxious / Psychotic symptoms or you've poor circulation / a fucked heart / eat nothing but junk food and get no exercise?... Because you're at risk of turning off the light) and you also need to USE THIS COMPOUND RESPONSIBLY AND IN MODERATION!!!

I hear tales of people going through multiple grams in a night and wondering why they feel like the shit from Hitler's arse fried up in the morning, then the next morning, and the next etc etc..

Any drug, from Paracetamol to PCP has risks associated with it, and it's up to the people that use them to take responsibility for their own safety and treat such drugs with respect and caution.

Saying that Mephedrone's "for tramps who can't afford Cocaine" is one of the most infantile things you could have made a page about it's just redikulaaaarrrrsssse [-_-]
Why not make a page about the dangers of using it with unbiased information, pharmacological information, symptoms of ODs?
Anyway, I'm out of time & character space.. N'night...

Again, n'night all :) Tis way past my bedtime 8)

Johns Snow was holding a bag of meph on the channel 4 news last night. Amazing! It was sat on his desk for the rest of the program. He interviewed one of the other drugs officers that resigned with Nutt (I forget which one), he was AMAZING. He said:

1) The two deaths still haven't been linked to meph yet, toxicology reports are not out
2) We need to stop criminilising young people and we need to be more sophisticated with drug laws. The misuse of drugs act does not work
3) Meph has gained popularity because for some reason MDMA is very scarce on the streets

The man knows whats up! He speaks the truth.

my mum was a nurse at St Annes hospice in Manchester about a year ago and she used to give out huge does of diamorphine every day.. almost everyone in that place had a massive junk habit, not out of choice, but for pain relief.. sometimes they were just on morphine but some of them definitely had diamorphine

so yeah, heroin is widely used in medicine

It's good to see that people are becoming more and more confident when it comes to speaking out against drug laws. The coming months leading up to the ban on Mephedrone could be a good opportunity for public discussion about the problems with outright drug prohibition. Surely as time goes by more RCs are going to be popping up, but maybe next time we won't be as lucky as we were with Mephedrone, in terms of negative side effects.
