Mephedrone Megathread VIII: Hnnnng!

i bet Dr. Les Kings interview will ever only be show the one time and all the talk about meph the killer drug will be repeated over and over.

in the interview he said there had been no deaths because of meph in th U.K atall, and that there is no proof the recent deaths had anything to do with meph yet. he also said he didnt think meph shoud be banned, he agreed it had to be controled but said just making drugs illegal dosnt work %)

Yea the media are gonna go absolutely wild with this now. When i went downstairs before my grandma asked if i knew what mephedrone was lol, and she knows nothing about drugs so im sure everyone is aware of this now.

Great, as soon as MDMA starts popping it's head up again this happens. Now this shit will be made illegal and we'll have another year of shit pills and fake MDMA, this time meph instead of BZP.

Will they tackle Methylone?

what??

And a hell of a lot more after they got banned, no?

not at all no, you must be confused, BZP was only made illegal in december and mCPP et al are still legal as far as I can see...

The problem was a supply one and the shadier suppliers started replacing MDMA with pips because they were cheap and legal...

So who came to the conclusion that meph was the cause of death then? Someone just jumped to conclusions and suddenly the whole of the UK thinks these boys were killed by 'meow meow' as the papers seem to be calling it.

One of their mums was on the news saying she can't believe after so many people have been killed by this stuff (have they?) it's still available and on sale in college and schools. Has no one thought to tell her it might have been the booze and methadone that killed them? Surely a doctor or someone should have mentioned it.

Will we ever find out the official cause of death or has it already been decided as fact without any proper investigation that it was this new evil internet drug?

there has been not one single death in the uk that can be blamed on meph Dr Les King said so in a interview earlier. and there is no proof that meph killed those two boys

It wouldn't have been a news story if it was an illegal stimulant or just the booze and methadone.

We'll find out when the toxicology report comes out.

Someone has told a mother that her boy died from taking meph, whoever told her that should be slapped. If it was a doctor or the police they should be sacked for giving out misinformation.

Our media is a fucking joke for the way they've sensationalised this. :|

All this Mephedrone talk is doing my head in. I don't know what's worse - the shit the media talk about some basic facts or the people jumping to defend a drug which is having such a negative effect. Maybe not as bad as the media make out, but a negative effect. This thread and the earlier ones are proof of that. Plus the people who go on about how shit of a drug it is yet continue to bosh it religiously all weekend..don't get me started.

We'll find out when the toxicology report comes out.

Will we, though? Or will the toxicology simply confirm that they consumed mephedrone, methadone and alcohol, with the post mortem giving the cause of death as [respiratory shutdown / asphyxiation by vomit / etc], which can still then be blamed on any/all of the above chemicals by preference of news-worthiness.

Either way I think the media sensationalism has already vilified mephedrone beyond redemption, regardless.

Dr. Les King was suprisingly awesome.

Yea other than those couple of mistakes I was really taken with his views of the M.O.D act and it's blatant failings :)
I'm not surprised he resigned when David Nutt was sacked as he seems to stand for everything that David does.

Yea I'm cynical as to whether the truth will be published in the mass media also :\
I'm fairly sure that the Toxicology report will find out the truth (most likely resp. depression from the Alc./Methadone combo) but whether that will change anything.. unlikely I feel :(

ITV just made a shocking report. They spent about 10minutes saying meph killed the kids, the parents echoing that fact before finally a reporter came on and said at the end as an afterthought "we don't know that mephedrone killed them we'll have to wait and see whatthe report says". No mention of alcohol or methadone.
