While I take full advantage of the loophole, I think it shows a pretty poor image of our Government that Mephedrone can be sold under this guise, when it's absolutely obvious to all that it's not used on plants.

You know I've not noticed that button before. I feel like such a noob. Incriminating myself before obliviously and talking about bulk prices. 2005 join date... embarrassing. (2002 actually, old username which i forgot password to... wanted an admin to combine the two so i look like more of an elder/bl pro, but never got round to asking. Oh actually I did ask felix a while ago if he could, think he said either it was too much hassle, he couldn't or it was only done under special circumstances... oh well)

LOL @ clipe button, that must be a Scottish forum you go on if the button has a name like that. :D

Don't knock it to you've tried it. This happened to one of mine after a 250mg dose

Hahaha. I'd try it, but it would seem like a waste. I'd be cursing the plant all night - Bastard thing, look at it, having the time of it's life...

Mephedrone's resemblence to Ecstasy?

Been reading alot about the new popularity of (sic?) Mephedrone in the UK and more specifically, England. Im sure the stories are exaggerated in parts but ive read enough of them, plus BL, to gather a bit about its character.

My question is about Meph's resemblance to MDMA pills and powder. Do they look, smell or taste similar?

Do people substitute them for each other at scenes? Is it safe to ingest both at the same time if by accident? Do they contradict?

Anyone know if there is any other information one should know about this substance beyond what the media says, and its temporary legality? What about London?

Meph is everywhere in the UK right now - it has a very distinctive smell - in some cases quite ''shrimp'' like, some of the crystal stuff has little smell to it - depends on the batch etc....in terms of effects i would say it is very similar to MDMA although shorter lasting and more compulsive.

Also I found that snorted effects are more coke like, orally it is a little more like MDMA. I wouldn't recommend mixing meph with other stimulants due to increased heart rate. Personally alcohol seems to increase the effects for me in combination with meph.

I think a big reason why it's taken off so much in the UK is the poor quality of pills and the easy availability of meph online, I havent managed to find decent mdma/pills for over 2 years now.

In terms of legality, i'm surprised it hasn't been banned here yet - i don't read too much into media reports here about meph due to the inaccuracies i have seen in some reports - but for safety reasons i havent taken meph for about 3 months....but i know that if the police find someone in possession of this it would normally result in arrest due to the suspicion of possessing a controlled substance until tests are conducted - i guess it has a similar appearance to coke or mdma - and is generally white crystals or powder.

two deaths together - i'm guessing mephedrone had nothing to do with it, methadone and booze sounds like the likely one, wouldn't even be surprised if there's been some kind of mixup in reporting because of similar names

5 live just lead with a story with a lying policeman saying 2 fellas in Rochdale died from Mephedrone.

I say lying, because he went on to say that they had probably been drinking for 48hrs and taking a substance they thought was mephedrone but may have been methadone.

Whoops.

And as the presenter said, until they get the tox reports, who knows what they died from?

Or Scunthorpe even.

Certain dark humour in the methadone/mephedrone confusion.

I hate it when policeman give me drug advice.

"They're calling it mcat because that's what young people will know it as, it's a white or yellowish powder, if you've taken it go straight to hospital."

Apparently it's 'widely available.'

The report has just been on BBC tea time news, saying that they had been drinking heavily and taking meph then took Methedone.

This is just what the anti meph people have been wanting, regardless of what the toxicology report says, thats just put meph right on the drug haters map.

Regardless of what happened, it's always sad to hear the death of 2 young people.

funny that here in the UK mephedrone is being highlighted on channel 4 news at 7:00pm. I remember the hype about mdma, seems like history repeating....

shame the government cant get their act together and do some serious research, instead of letting the media sensationalize unconfirmed reports.
