Mephedrone Megathread - Second Line

why? is somehow that not the consequnces of drug induced vasoconstriction?

is it upsetting to mephedrone customers?

If I had a picture of the dead mephedrone girl I would post that instead, or the recent hospitalisation...

I say excessive use of this drug is problematic and we are just seeing the beginning and I am happy to let history be my judge.

this stuff is not a toy and should be treated with a bit of respect.

Vecktor

I have to say I think mentioning an unproved single death in Sweeden, or posting a picture of some poor bastards hand is the ultimate in scaremongering.

It's tantamount to both "Leah Betts" where she died from drinking 14 litres of water, not MDMA, and those STD textbooks where they show the most scabby penis ever to put you off sex for life.

I think a little more measure and less extremism is needed.

Honestly, the vasoconstrictive properties are hardly grave enough at sensible doses to warrant the horrofest.

Keeping the warnings up are fine, but not when they unrealistically portray the drug as more dangerous than it is.

A small minority of users may have train wrecks coming to them, either through irresponsible use or plain wrecklessness. True of any drug.

The drug itself may not be as dangerous as portrayed when used sensibly. However, many sensible people don't use drugs sensibly and many more just don't know the dangers of many drugs, especially legal ones - they have a false sense of security. Plus - being a stimulant, loads of people are probably going to find it quite more-ish. Of course train wrecks are inevitable with most drugs, but if we keep up warnings then we can reduce the frequency of these disasters, which is always a good thing and worth a bit of annoyance to some :)

I don't think it's scaremongering atall. I already personally know of people completely disconnected from the RC scene, completely uninformed, don't even know what the real name of the substance is etc (wanna buy some fred?), going through grams off the stuff in short periods of time as if it was innocuous as chocolate, even on their first taste of it. I'm sure lots of you know people like that aswell. These are exactly the kind of people who come out with stuff like (earlier in this thread) "GONNA BOMB A WHOLE GRAM NEXT, HAS 2 BE DONE MATE" etc.

Fear not children, for it is a drug more good than bad.

that's a totally irresponsible and baseless thing to say. This really irritates me, the whole "no come down", "no sideeffects", its harmless, it's legal.
FACT - it is cheap, easily available, fiendish and habit forming. Put two and two together. There have already been reports in the mainstream press about addiction and psychosis, what do you think is going to happen now that its getting into the hands of people with no fucking clue about any risks, the kind of people who will eat 15 pills in a night or are used to getting through a couple of grams of 10% purity coke in an evening?

I totally agree with vektor when he says this is just the beginning, there will be all sorts of consequences I'm sure.

Yes maybe i am honeymooning a little...

I would be extremely interested in hearing others' negative experiences.

Clearly i haven't taken enough to have got my hands burnt yet. That might be something that I'll experience down the road, I just don't know yet.

Speaking personally, towards the end of my occassional e use, I would experience the most soul wrenching comedowns that still make me shudder to this day. To put this is perspective, the period coincided with the beginnings of my first (and certainly not last) depressive episode, hence the SSRIs. I've spoken to a psychiatrist about the mood disorder being self-inflicted through pills, but he smiled and shook his head, saying he'd heard exactly the same thing from others and that the majority of moderate users (like me) would not experience the same problems and on the same scale as I did.

Since specualtion and intuition seems to be getting rather a cold reception on this board, I'll refrain from mentioning that taking cipralex (and bupropion), I feel fine the day after mephedrone, and that this may have some preventative effect from some of the nasties

If this is true, my experience will differ from everybody else taking it not on antidepressants. So given the special conditions, I'll shut my gob from now and let the *unmedicated* healthy norms get on with it.

As an aside I am actually feeling quite depressed at the moment, though this was the case for about 2 weeks before i ever took the meph and caused by not being on the right (effective) meds.

I get comedowns off it.But I've had severe depression for 16 years:(
I took somewhere in the region of 280mg on Saturday over 5 hours and 2 hours after the last dose got awfully depressed for about half an hour till I ate some macaroni and cheese and then dosed 2ml of GBL:)
I knew from the last time I took it (800mg over 6 hours:\)that without "medical" assistance I might feel awful eg not be able to get out of bed or listen to music or be able to read for a day after taking so the GBL was essential.

Last time I heard of someone dying from MDMA it was a teenage girl up this end of the country who had some kind of atypical reaction and suffered liver failure. The hospital refused to even consider her for a transplant because she'd taken drugs, and essentially they let her die.
Source please.

I did get a bit of a comedown the next day from just 200mg, not as bad as methylone or mdpv but it was still noticeable.

I wouldn't want to take this stuff every weekend or every other weekend either, my jaw/mouth was a bit fucked as well, if i'd dosed any higher that would've probably been a bitch.

Had some meph on fri, just white powdery stuff, was crystally but not the same as the crystally batch. Very fluffy aswell, the gram looked huge! This is about the 6th diff batch of mephedrone i've had now and i would honestly say theres only 2 of them that were worth having. The 2 that were worth having were both crystally batch, they were definately different tho, the 2nd crystally batch i had seemed much cleaner and no weird heartbeat etc.

I think people need to also concider that although mephedrone is still a research chemical and we dont know the toxicity, alot of that could very well be down to how well synthisized the batches are. I know 100% fact that one online vendors stuff was not the 99+% it was advertised at, a 250mg bomb gave me virtually no effects when the crystally stuff i would be pretty wiped out! :D

True.
Medical assistance is always essential.
A gram of K usually and some clonazepam. Couldn't do it any other way :\

Thought the fluffy stuff was just as good as the crystal. WAY harsher to snort (so painful) but seemed to hit just as hard, if not, harder. Was spinning off the first two lines.

Mephedrone fuckt up my knees for months. Went to hospital in an ambulance as my mates phoned one because I blacked out and my knees and elbows had turned purple. Not my feet or hands however, which implies it was an auto-immune response rather than vasoconstriction. Had a red rash on my arms and chest, and was very lightheaded all night. Sweated bucket loads. Head felt like it was going to explode. Had got through seven grams in a week, and on the night in question had done 1.5 grams over 30 hours.

I've seen others do far more. Which was confusing.

Rigged me up to a heart monitor for the night and discharged me in the morning. Oxygen levek fine, BP fine, Pulse was ~90 all night. Knees have been slightly discolored ever since, some days they're fine, but some days (mainly when I'm using other stims) they go purple again. Haven't touched meph in six months now.

I think that some people just react very badly to it. Me being one! Either that or theres bad batches going around, or meph is just more dangerous than people have noticed. Though the fact that there haven't been many fatalities (One I think?) out of probably tens of thousands of users shows its not exactly a killer drug.

So yea, I was an idiot doing the amount I did, and I suffered the consequences. Just thought I would share.

Peace.

So what did the hospital say the problem was? What actually happened to you?

Nothing. She just rolled her eyes, gave me a 'your a very naughty boy look', ticked the 'amphetamine abuse' box on her form when I said mephedrone, and said I'll have to wait in hospital overnight on the monitor and that was it. She didn't even look at my symptoms. I came in at a bad time, took 3-4 hours before I was even looked at and they were really busy, and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with me, or what meph was, so they just kept me in overnight to keep an eye on me and discharged me in the morning. Really ignorant and unhelpful in general. Never found out what the issue was :X
