Mephedrone/MDMA Question

the thing that really scares me now, is this shit is EVERYWHERE around here, and kids are plowing it down like crazy (some really kids, 15-16 y/o's) and NONE of them have any idea what they're taking or the effects. so, in the interest of public safety, im going to use this test kit and take it to all the local dealers, along with a copy of some of the pictures and the shit on the "How Toxic is Mephedrone" thread... hopefully they listen.

This is what it was like in the UK before it was banned, kids and teens everywhere taking it all day everyday because it's cheap and easily available. Such a fucking evil drug

yeah i've got a lot of mates who do faaaaar too much drone. i think it's technically less harmful/neurotoxic than MDMA but the problem is it's so moreish so it's hard to regulate use like you can so easily with MDMA.

idk man, from what ive read its much worse - and I can say personally my use has been very minimal, ive never exceeded 500mg in a session - these past 2 days, I used about 450mg (spread over the 2 days) and that caused big purple blotches all over my arms and knees. 450mg of MDMA can easily be taken without any sort of effects like that - I woke up this morning, and while its not as extreme, my arms are still extremely blotchy and dont look right, but im also getting twitches and tingles in my muscles.

It *is* technically less neurotoxic than MDMA according to one study, done on rats. So, that doesn't say much. Regardless, it very well could be less neurotoxic than MDMA, but that doesn't mean it's less harmful in a multitude of other ways. Also, I think it's hard to compare which is more or less harmful because it depends on your use of either, how much, how long you use, etc. I've never done MDPV or Mephedrone but from what I've heard from others who have, you're more likely to redose more often than you would on MDMA, and people on bath salts tend to be up for days, not just a night like most people who use MDMA are. So, sleep deprivation itself, will obviously cause a whole slue of other ill effects on your brain and body. And... as far as I know, although they're kind of similar chemicals, MDPV/mephedrone work primarily on dopamine/norepinephrine, where as MDMA works primarily on serotonin, so it's hard to say. I think the "scary" or most worrisome thing about bath salts is more so the sleep deprivation that typically comes with doing it, not even the actual drug itself. It seems like people go into psychosis on it easier. I can only speak from what I've researched and heard from others though. A friend of mine who did it was awake for 3 days and said the others who had done it with him were definitely flailing and going a little batty much quicker and easier than he's even seen on meth. So, even though it's possible that MDMA is technically more neurotoxic, over all, whether or not it's more or less harmful than something like MDPV would depend on your use.

As for whether or not what you took was MDPV/mephedrone, I've never done it, so I couldn't tell you, but I do know that if the euphoria is short lasting and it doesn't taste very bitter, it's either not MDMA or doesn't have much MDMA in it at all. MDMA is sooooo bitter...

I tested it, it is mephedrone - also I can tell you that ive never been up for multiple days doing it, always get good rest after a session, and have never exceeded 500mg in a session - and I still get intense discoloration and blotches all over my arms. I think the problem is with mephedrone itself, the other effects of people going on crazy multi-day binges with no sleep obviously compounds this, but you dont need to be going crazy with it to have all the fucked up effects.

Yeah, no, I totally agree with you. I would do MDMA over mephedrone/MDPV any day, personally. The point I was basically trying to get at is that the one test on rats that apparently showed MDMA as more harmful doesn't have much credibility and even if it did, it would all totally depend on the persons use. :)

Out of curiosity, what did you test it with? Did it test positive for mephedrone or for a cathinone? Is there a test that differenciates between mephedrone and other cathinones?

I wanna see a pic of these arm blotches... ive never heard this before...

unfortunately I dont have a camera to take pictures, but if you've seen the other pictures of discoloration from meph, it looks the same, I just get it all up my forearms. - my elbows turn bright bright red, and all up my arm gets patches of bright red/purple-ish colors.

it was the marquis test, it just tests for cathinones, but from the length of effect, the appearance, and the discoloration I get from it, im almost positive its mephedrone.

yeah, I plan on having one more go just because of prior plans that at all costs need to be stuck to lol, that wont be until next week however. I mean I could see doing it once or twice a month or so kept under .5g, but its definitely something to be very careful with... also, I know not much is known about the side effects of this stuff, and obviously my case isnt nearly as bad as some, but on me, it almost looks like a histamine reaction. im no science head, but I wonder if this has been looked into.

just because you'd never heard of it, heres a couple pics to give you some ideas

<- that is like my case, kind of hard to see in the pic, mine is just like that - same on my arms except in patches, with the skin in between the blotches and dots very pale white.

this however, is a much more severe case

Hmm... I've gotten blotchy skin from dexedrine (amphetamine) before, I think it has to do with blood pressure... maybe it's the same thing? I've never, ever gotten anywhere near as bad as the lower pic though. It's usually my legs that get the blotchiest.

from what ive read the best guess so far is a vasoconstriction, however it doesnt seem to react like a usual vasoconstrictor, some have taken stabs at it being an auto-immune reaction - but nobody knows for sure.
