hi, i've just stumbled across this forum and i'm loving it. there's some really intelligent clever and beautifully emotive people on here and i feel like it's my time to contribute to this great forum. so here is a little poem i wrote when i was locked away in a high dependancy unit (a mental health ward)

i'm mentally ill, nuts barking insane
lost all concept of what is plain
and simple
had to lock me away
four weeks every day
not knowing when or how if i'll ever be free
well let them see
for i am free

free from worry
free from doubt
free from the need
to shout and swear
i dont care

blank expressions all this pain
caused by no embathy from the sane
no sunscreen not on your prescription chart
they've got this toruture thing down to an art
all i want to tell them
all i want to say
is that love will take this all away

love yourself love who you are
and people willl come to see you from a far
they want to know how to love themselves too

all i can say is that you and me we are one
and you'll see good and bad
right from wrong
these are just ideas
ideas which are created by you
so just create love
thats all you can do

How you wrote that in those circumstances is really touching. I like it.

tell me about it. I could never have written this when I was institutionalized that acutely. Beautiful.

Firstly, welcome =D

Secondly, thanks for sharing and posting that for us all.

Such a thing to accept in oneself mental illness, great job at a confession and acceptance but some posit5ively great realisations in there too.

So well written.

Look forward to reading more of your work.

RE above comments. Aren't most artists crazy? A little more than most, less struvtured and more open mind. I've never had mental illness ( that I know of ;) ) but I would think so long as the illness isn't drastic it may be easier to to write?

Just a thought.
