Mental tolerance to LSD?

Two nights ago I tripped 3 hits of this acid I got from my buddy. He said to only take one because one was almost too much for him. Well I took all 3. and I tripped balls, but not as hard as I should have on 3 hits. I haven't touched acid since the summer. Is there some way I have a mental tolerance to the effects of LSD? It's still a lot of fun but I feel like I need to take 6 hits or something.

You shouldn't judge an LSD experience by how many tabs you've taken, but by how many micrograms it felt. 3 tabs of this could be equal to 8 tabs of that. It's certainly possible to lose the magic, maybe you just don't enjoy it like you use to? Tolerance goes away in a week or so, I can't imagine it being physical unless you took LSD a few days before those 3 tabs.

It's certainly possible to become experienced enough to need more to get the wow effect when you first try it. Could just be you learning to handle it, and you simply desire more.

You're only referring to one experience taking 3 hits? As J.Wallace rightfully mentioned, each hit has a variable dosage:

- I don't agree that you should judge an experience by how many micrograms it felt, because unless you've dosed yourself with pure measured microgram doses of LSD you can only wildly guesstimate, and with nothing to go against how can you ever give an accurate number? Two people could take 100mics, and one person could think that's what 150 mics feels like, another could think it's what 50 mics feel like - and that's dangerous when it comes to harm reduction ;) (Though, I'm just disagreeing with the wording here, as I don't think that's what you meant :) )

However, your 3 hits could have had 30 mics, 50 mics, 150 mics, 200 mics - we really don't know, but it's likely they were weaker than what you're used to if you didn't trip quite as hard. It's normal for different hits to be different dosages so this isn't anything unusual, and if you haven't tripped since summer, it's not going to be a tolerance issue. It's also possible that it was a substance other than LSD (we can't help you figure out what though), but it's more likely that it was just low dosage.

Dude low dose lsd is all around this area. I suggest you do your homework on it before you buy it. I have seen some decent stuff lately. I have also had some recently that you had to take 3 to "flip" as my dealer said. I concur with his statement. Street lsd does not have a standardized dose. I aim to take 150 mics per trip. I have some reference in the microgram range luckily.

Yeah I know but I will take the same kind of acid as my buddies are taking and they seem to trip much harder.

I can attest to what OP's saying as well. Recently I've had a really solid connect on liquid L, and the stuff is mind-blowingly clean. 2 hits gets me going be just as well as the red star microdots I was able to take this summer at Wakarusa. Other than that though, this is some of the best stuff I've had in at least 2 years. Anyways, I also find myself unable to get fried like I used to. I have two proposed theories as to why it doesn't hit me MENTALLY like it used to: 1) Using the various phenethylamine/tryptamine RC's I have with the frequency I have in the last year or so very well may have desensitized me to some of the effects of drugs which act on 5-HT2A receptors, as well as many new drug experiences I've had throughout the years including heroic dissociative/psychedelic experiences may have just dulled the bite of the psychedelic mindstate to me nowadays. 2) You're just in a much better spot in your present day life than you have before, so maybe the euphoria you get when you trip from this relaxed mental state makes the whole experience seem a little 'tame', which in turn makes you think maybe the experience isn't as golden? Either way, it's not a bad thing. Maybe you're just mentally comfortable enough to handle larger doses of LSD. That's what I think about the situation anyways.

Everyone definition of "tripping balls" is different. What might be too strong for one person might be barely enough for another.

There's a loss of magic, if u have done it too much in the past even if it has been long since ur last time. Have you been doing other psychedelics?

This was the first time I've done acid since this summer and I did shrooms once back in September. I'm gonna give it a try again in a week or so. There's plenty of Cid in town so maybe round 2 will go better

True, but then Alan Watts proceeded to drink himself to a pathetic, miserable death on two or three bottles of whiskey a day. If he'd hung up the phone on whiskey and kept taking the acid he'd have lived a much longer, happier life.

Whatever "message" he thought he'd got clearly wasn't the right one.
