I also think that psychologists are helpful for purposes of release, but I don't go thinking they will be able to rid you of whatever it is you have.
True true, but they can give you some hints on how to solve your problems yourself. As much as we "know" what certain chemicals appear to do in the brain, we still have no idea how or why they do these things....But it seems clear enough that adopting a different line of thinking (ala cognitive behavioral therapy, which doesn't really need a therapist) can alter your perception of reality, just as exogenous chemcals can...it seems to flow both ways, perception shaping reality and reality shaping perception.
