Mental Effects of Low-Dose Ketamine

The other day I tried Ketamine for the first time. I took 2 bumps of unknown quantity, although I know it wasn't very much. The visual effects weren't spectacular, just a very slight horizontal stretching. What struck me was the effects on my consciousness. I don't remember very clearly, but I remember that my thoughts seemed very fake, and disconnected from the usual pain or frustration that would usually accompany them. I could think very subjectively about situations and how I react to them.

I'm sorry if this is vague, but all the information on the effects of ketamine on consciousness that I could find refer to K-Hole doses.

I think what I was experiencing may have been depersonalization. How would you describe low-dose ketamine's effects on consciousness?

Depends on how low of a dose you're talking about.

Low dose ketamine(~15mg-25mg If I recall) has been used as an anti-depressant by some people(there are some threads here in PD if you search). However, I'm not exactly sure by what mechanism(s) of action this happens.

Yea I read that as well.

It was definitely a noticeably active dose, but I was nowhere near a K-Hole. Walking was slightly difficult, I probably looked a bit drunk.

I would suggest you were experiencing a degree of dissociation - kinda does what it says on the tin that dissociative stuff ;)

I find lowish doses of ket can make the world seem somewhat alien and unreal without the full-blown alien vistas of a k-hole. You experienced what I would characterise as the klassic mind/body ketawonk :)
