Does anyone have any idea of which drugs can actually be used to enhance memory. I find myself struggling to remember things, sometimes it's instantly forgotten. For example if I read a paragraph from a book, by the end of it I will have forgotten what I have just read. This can become bed difficult and stressful when it comes to working and trying to study. Does anyone have any idea what drugs could be taken to aid this? Thanks

This has to be one of the most commonly asked questions ever hehe.

Well that's exactly what amphetamines are for and why half of college students (at least half of those who study at the latest possible date which is most of us) use them. You are more awake, focused, have more energy and it's easier to remember lots of boring crap you are going to forget again in the next weeks.

I highly recommend taking such drugs only for most important cases (ie. you need to study for a test which if you fail, you will drop out) and not every time you study because over time they become less effective and side effects more pronounced.

Instead try to improve your memory functions in natural slow ways, that means good sleep, good food and physical exercise. Especially sleep, your memory will always suck if you sleep 4 hours a day.

Nootropics do either nothing or slight improvement for most people however since they basically have no side effects there's nothing to lose by trying some. I have tried piracetam personally and it makes me more focused but I have to take big doses, several grams at once.

I have pretty good memory since childhood so I guess it's not so tempting for me to use drugs for studying, but it could always be much better of course.

Just in case, it's always worth mentioning IMO that cannabis and alcohol are really bad for memory so at least during exam months these 2 should be completely avoided.

Look into into nootropics such as gotu kola. It's a proven nootropic which enhances memory and cognition.

Stimulants or amphetamines in specific that release dopamine and norepinephrine in the hippocampus (the part of the brain that's responsible for accessing and formulating memories) are famous for dramatically increasing memory and cognition. If you wish to be on those it would be best to discuss it with your doctor and make sure he outlines he pros and cons. Modafinil might be another drug you could discuss with him, as most users report improved cognition without side effects.

Stress can also seriously disable healthy functioning of the hippocampus. Try not to be overly stressed and I'm sure your memory will improve. Eating right and excercising are also a major player in memory function. Green tea, fish oil, and magnesium are supplements you should look into before making a decision to use medication.

thanks for the help, I've been told over and over that i should try to obtain adderall, however in the UK it's pretty hard to get hold of, are there any similar products which may be easier to obtain?

I've tried piracetam, pramiracetam, noopept, and a few other supplements. I have noticed some very mild effects but nothing that i would say is worth the cost of purchase.

I have discussed this with my doctor, but here in the UK it seems that there are a lot of walls standing between you and the medication you feel you need. I have tried the nootropics stated above, however i haven't tried gotu kola, so perhaps i need to give it a go! I see where you are coming from with the stress thing, however i find it becomes a vicious circle as i get stressed by having such poor memory and by getting stressed my memory decreases further...

Forgot to say 2 things, you are in fact looking for some kind of stimulant not just amphetamines, amps are only one tiny subset of stimulants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stimulant to see that most stims aren't related to amphetamine) and most stims have the potential to work as a work/study aid. The thing is in practice many stims are unusable as a study aid for many reasons, one being it's too difficult to find that exact dose between feeling nothing and feeling too euphoric or overstimulated which will make you not care about work. There are many research chemicals you can legally (or semi-legally..) buy over internet which can be used too but there is always risk as they are oficially not meant for human consumption so who knows what they do in the long term. 3-FA or MPA or Pentedrone should work quite well as they aren't too euphoric.
While amphetamine is researched well and is reliable for this purpose.
And of course there's always caffeine which improves memory significantly but like every drug if you take lots of it every day it hardly helps in the long run.

The other thing I forgot to say, always take drugs orally if you want to be productive, with every other ROA there is high chance you will feel too good or too bad to care about studying.

There are a lot of supplements you can take that enhance memory and most have significantly less side effects than pharmaceutical stimulants. They don't always work immediately of course, the specific effects and the ways they help with memory vary, and which one would be best for you depends on a number of factors. For example do you also need to improve energy, focus, etc?

Quite a few are listed here: The Best Supplements for Memory Improvement

(note that some of these help in more ways than that site has listed)
