melbourne - gods kitchen - 2nd october - melbourne park - REVIEWS START PAGE 9

I won't be going again next year!!

I went to the party looking mainly to be impressed with the Lazers. They had nothing on what they were like last year.

Speakers, not enough so they were at ear pierceing levels, crowd well, what can I say.

If I worked it out I think this party brings in like over a million dollars.

I didn't get my moneys worth.

Worst part of the whole thing that's the last party I'm going to see in Australia for like 3 months, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I must admit though I met some great people, especially a couple from the Czech republic.

^^^Same here

Future in my opinion can go F*** themselves, I went out to the car with a mate, we got stuck in a discussion about freedom of choice, when we arrived back at the entrance we were then informed that we were not allowed back in as passouts stopped at 5.30, 5.30? WHAT A FREAKIN JOKE!

We were not even informed of the said time as we missed being told as it was not decided til lafter we had left. Also the lines at the start were mammoth and completely unorganised, future really needs to pull their finger out, there is no way I'll EVER be attending another one of their parties ever again....

But I loved the cheesey music (what I heard of it) exactly what I was expecting.

okay....my thoughts on the night:

Downers:
- the ridiculous line to get in, only 2 paths were open to letting people in, clearly an under-staffed event!

- i missed the BL meetup, so sori guys, really wanted to meet ya's all but i just got in to late!

- to much light in the main room, just turn the lights off and let the lasers do there thing!

- the sound in the main room was poor, not loud enough!

- the sun came up way to early! lol, need to hav this event after day-light savings comes into affect, or beter yet, smaller queues so ppl can get in there earlier! a lot of scary faces when the sun comes up.

- some friends piking on the nite at about 4am.

Upsides:
- the end of eddie halliwell set was gr8 (only got to see the end cause i was in a queue for an hour)!
- got the end of anne savage, she was bangin!

if i had to give the night and overall rating: hmmm.... 5/10 cause i reckon i only had half as much fun as i know i could!

I was in the city last night catching up with friends for a few drinks and saw everyone walking past in their phatties on their way to gods kitchen, and I was insanely jealous, but after reading these reviews I'm glad I didn't fork out the money. Sounds like WOTW was better, despite the whole split over 2 nights thang. So I'm glad I chose war in the end!

It was my first event of this size, I had an awesome time with all of my friends. Anne Savage and BK totally wow'ed me out!

The only real downer was being pumped as we walked to the gates... then seeing the 40 minute line :(

Awesome, awesome, awesome, will be adventuring out to these sorts of events again for sure :D

Queue was shitful - we arrived at 1130, didn't make it thru the gates until 1230.
Was a nice chilled night, plenty of new and old friends, lots of time and space to chat.
Didn't see half the sets I planned on seeing, but only because I was too busy hanging out with ppl.
Not writing Future off for good- we'll see how they do next time.
Sorry I missed the meetup- after finally making it thru the gates I had to catch up with lots of ppl (and get one of those funky airbrushed tattoos!! :)

well, Future has always impressed me in the past, but the night started off a real shit. Lined up at 12PM - Didnt get in till 1:32AM - Thats a very long wait. After we got in we sat out side for 20 mins resting cos of the que! Then we hear this big bang and the whole fence came smashing down and 40 muzzas had rampaged the fence for free entry. - AN UNDERSTAFFED event. Mean rude security and even the cloakroom denied my g/f to take her jacket. The main room was too bright and not enough people dancing- just standing. Hard kandy/Bass station room rocked though and BK was sweet. Alas, never going to GK again due to the bad organisation, could had been alot better.

Well, all things considered, i had a pretty good time. Didnt get in till 1:30, but had managed to weasle a meagre 20 minute stay in the line. Just me and a mate, linking up with some others already there.

Had a pretty good time, except for when i was right near molly for five minutes, and in that period of time at least 100 people had come up to him yelling his name. Poor fella.

But, having said i had fun, i also could have had a LOT more. The fact that i was absolutely knackered five hours before it started due to work could have a little to do with that...

Meh. All said and done, i cant really comment on the quality of the event. I don't have anything to really measure it against, not on that scale.

Although, they REALLY should have drawn instructions on the water fountain thing.

Hey hope you guys all had a good time at GK,
I was really pissed of with the lines outside, if they had the other gates open everyone would had gotten in in half the time.
I was standing for about 1 hour just to get in.

Once I got in the rest of the night was pretty good..
Not looking forward to Terible Tuseday ..:\

Anyone see when Molly Meldrum rocked up? He was absolutely fucked off his face.

ahh so thats where hes moved to? Molly use to make regular appearances at my nightclub i work at...till they must of sacked his arse cause he hasnt been there for a bit. he was always so wasted!!

i wana steal his hat ;)

^^^^^^^^ yeh saw him walking thru the middle between the stalls just before the main room! he was absolutely knackered! hunched over dragging his legs along, did feel sorry for him with everyone going upto to him...if he wasnt so F%#$ed up it would have been alrite!

i cant write off future just yet...but they havn't helped there cause, i guess we'll hav to see how they go with ferry and sasha and then of course summa dayze (which is always top noch).

well, considering i expected nothing... i had a fucking ball :D

only downer was the line.

spent the whole night in the defected(house) room, didnt move apart from the occasional wander thru the crowd to check out all the ravers.
benny benassi played an absolute awesome set!! very impressed. andrew padula rocked it at the end... that guy has so much energy!!!
sandy riviera was also very good. also good to wsee john course play as well, considering i dont go to onelove anymore and havent been to qbar on a friday in ages, was good to see him rocking!!

overall an awesome night!!! :D (but i think my attitude of expecting nothing helped achieve this)

Man you Melbourne people are spoilt! We had an absolute ball, the only downer on the night being waiting in the queue for over an hour to get in the gates (on, and Molly - he was disgusting. No sympathy from me at all, the sad trashed bastard was just out looking for attention).

Was nice to not actually have to wear earplugs for the night because the sound quality was good enough that the volume wasn't too loud. Met some fantastic people, had a good dance and was most impressed by the friendliness and diversity of the Melbourne scene.

To those who met me at Gk - many thanks foe a great night.

:)smiley

top nite....

well, once i got over the initial line issue....

liked the setup, at least the smaller rooms had a bit of size... prolly could have done with more ppl though...

twas good to catch up with hoptis, syntech (piker ;)), child of the beat, duckboy, smileyfish, cuddlefish, pop popavich, maxload, tnargus & any others i met but cant remember...

bit of a bummer with the sun though.. i hate partying in the light, so i left pretty early.. but the walk home was great... :D

had been looking forward to that for a while, lived up to everything i expected...

and it was all in the name of science.....

;) ;)

I had an awesome night. I loved everything except for the line. Was in the line for over an hour. Sorry I couldn't make it to the meet up, first - i was late and second - i had no idea where the rave safe booth was. I asked the ladies that sold the vibrating tongue rings and they had no idea too.. :( sorry everyone. But yea, I had a great night. The light was a bummer, but got a few vids of ppl's legs on my phone. rofl!!! =D

As everyone mentioned, suckiest part? Queue.
I too crawled to the front gates for an hour, just making the 1:30am meetup.

Also, a lot of the music just wasn't up to scratch. :\
The room I enjoyed the most was definately the Future Breaks room. Funky, and really quite awesome.
The main room was just meh for me, most of the time.

My awesome company transformed what might have been a totally monotonous event into something very special. =D

Ok i'm still scattered, its monday night, i have to go to work in less than 2 hrs.....and i'm still a little scarred from some scary hallucinations at The Metro afterparty....but here goes...

Night was a ball....mostly due to two factors:

- The company I had....my friends are awesome, i love you...and to the BLers, i love ya all too....big thanks to COTB for the hugs when i nearly cried after finding out Sander wasn't playing, and to Cuddlefish's kind words re: my posts on this site...you guys rock :) Also to Syntech, glad I finally got to see your very cool phats and meet you :)

- Benny Benassi's set: One word describes it: Amazing. I'm just annoyed I had to leave it to go see BK (but i did get a shirt + promo card signed by BB and my cd cover signed by BK :D)

As mentioned many times before, line sucked ass bigtime...lasers in main room were shite compared to last year...many funny funny funny events happened that night....some moments i'll never forget i reckon...

Peace people, see you next time

Pretty much the same deal for me... had a great night, met heaps of cool people. The queue... grrrr.... certain people took *drugs* (gasp!) though before lining up which made the atmosphere in our little part of the queue a little more interesting :)

was well pissed off about the lack of Sander K, he was a big drawcard for me.

And someone should have had some forethought and sorted something out with God to get the sun coming up AFTER we were all home... walking through the city thenext morning was just a teeny bit weird. thank god it was nice and cloudy!!!

all in all, a pretty standard "commercial" event for me - tunes were pretty good, crowd varied but on the whole most people were having fun, line up for over an hour and then in you go.

and special mentions to COTB, Muzby, popovich, maxload, the fishes and everyone else i caught up with while there.
