the forcast only said shower or two max temp 17 min 8 so it shouldnt be too bad but knowing ballarat i wouldnt be surprised if it gets much colder...

krog: are you only playing your tracks during your set??

Keep in mind that even in Ballarat, that hill that Kryal is on has the Localised Arctic Effect centred on it to make it several degrees colder again. Seriously, you can feel the temperature drop as you drive up that little road.

I'm shopping for a Big Fluffy Thing on Saturday morning.

3 words. TOO FUCKEN COLD!

Would have been a great night if it wasn't for the shit weather. Was disapointed. Everyone at the event done a great job though. It was hard because last year was such a hot night and it made it so much better.

KROG: Missed your set sorry dude, was trying to stay warm.

yeh you gotta be prepered for the cold out there in ballarat, hehe last adventure it was below zero and i was in shorts!

Anyway i didn't got to this but im interested if the cops did any searches, testing etc. ??

i went up for about 8pm, no cops, but very rude security at the door :( too cold, too hot in the rooms!
Lee Haslam was awesome
NFX was insane, hope to hear more of him!

yes I also am interested to hear about such events.

hahaa you went to Kryal without expecting sub-zero temperatures?

I keep hearing bad reports about the security but I guess to their credit my experience with them was quite friendly.

I have been hearing that loads of promoters were getting screwed over because someone who was clearly not them picked up their tickets, and to their disapointment simon wouldnt even give them the light of day. So it was either a long drive back into melbourne or pay to get in.

POOR FORM ORACLE

well, i dont care what u all say, i had the best fucking time of my life there.... it was my first rave, and the first time i had takin anything, and it was awsome. im still a bit scattered though....

but seeing the rain in the lasers was awsome, i was danicing for most of the night in the rain. met up with some wicked ppl, got numbers etc.....

went to the BL meet up, hehe. it was just me and lahlah and alot of guys (*lookers*) hehehe. sorry if i forget any names, or i mispell them,im still a lil scattered, but i met with joellacoaster HiveMan, oceanboy, meanie_au, tom-ooo, and munted, thats all i can remember so far, i wanted to catch up with krog, but he didnt show......

some people were really fuckt, one guy did a line of a toilet seat and licked it up afterwards(i got told, everyone saw him) so that was the only bad thing i heard. but i was looking after a guy who was spewin his guts up and his mates were just trippin, staring at him and shit.....

KROG I SAW YOUR SET, I WAS UP THE FRONT DANCING MY LIL HEAD OFF!!!!! YOU WERE FUCKING WICKED!!!!! GLAD I SAW IT!!! ONE OF, IF NOT THE BEST SETS OF THE NIGHT!!!

yeah the security, i was pisst off, cos i got told all this shit about the security and checks and shit, so i took all the necessary precautions (*all of them*) yet, he only checked one pocket of my phatties, i mean thats good and all. but i just wish ppl wouldnt make shit up like that.
i felt quite uncomfortable for about half an hour!!!

but yeah, by far my best night this year, and the people i met were fuckin awsome!!!!

peace xoxo

p.s i certainly lived up to my name...........

Exams were finished. Spring was springing. Last year's party was balmy, and ticket sales had apparently been really strong. So it was with a sinking feeling that I drove towards Ballarat in the trusty Xena, through rain so heavy and driving that it literally blinded me on a couple of occasions. I mean, the forecast had been for cold and scattered showers, so we'd brought lots of clothes, but this was just nasty. Unfortunately, it was to come and go all the way through the night.

But, as is often the way, even the awful weather had an upside. Kryal Castle (arguably the best party venue I've ever been to, even on a clear warm night) spent the entire night shrouded in thick fog. Lights glowed eerily, and lasers sparkled emerald green as they bounced off swirling droplets, lending everything a magical air that even the biti ng cold couldn't dispel. People congregated in groups wherever there was warmth and dry air, giving all of the rooms (and nooks and verandahs) a cosy feeling that made for a very sociable atmosphere. I met a lot of new people just huddling around for a ciggie, which is always nice.

The warmth factor meant there was often not much space to dance inside, but during the gaps in the rain the main stage was spacious enough to really cut loose. My beloved floor from last year was absent, but I heard from the setup crew that they'd actually set it up earlier, and had to dismantle it because they kept falling over. It was replaced by a springy rubber surface, which wasn't quite so cool but was still slippy enough once it got wet.

Musically, there wasn't so much a standout act as pretty consistent offerings everywhere. I spent much of the night in the techno arena (if you know me, you know that tek really isn't my thing) because whenever I went in there there was something fun going on, but the same could be said of all the rooms mostly, I suppose. Myself and others felt that the best music was actually in the Beats Working playground, but as usual, it was outdoors and not nearly loud enough. Plus I don't dance too well to breakbeats - my fault, not theirs.

Had, as usual at Kryal, some of the best times in the carpark. The answer to the age old question "How many people can you fit in a Hyundai Excel?" was answered pretty comprehensively by toots. I sang like Kermit the frog. Snarf hurled. Tarkers tripped out. Yay the carpark.

All in all, a very satisfying night, if not for the fainthearted.

[edit: I heard about the comps-going-missing fiasco. That's really, truly fucked. I also heard a lot of promoters had to pay door prices to get in. If I was them, I'd be hassling Oracle for their money back :X]

[edit 2: this kind of surprise is one of many reasons I, while nominally on the promoter list, just went out and bought an industry.]
