I've been chatting to a few people and there seems to be a bit of interest in re-establishing the finest cultural event on the BL calendar:

:D The Wine and Cheese Appreciation Picnic (aka Goon 'n' Coon) :D

Location: Royal Botanic Gardens
Proposed date: Sat 2nd Jan 2010
Time: 12pm onwards
Bring: Some tasty wine & cheese to share, picnic rug etc

I'll dig out the map at a later point, but we'll aim for the usual spot which is the lake just in from gate D.

I don't like wine and/or cheese. Will you still accept me?

2. You can still come along. You should probably bring some grapes as a peace offering.

It is the middle of summer and way too hot for me. Why should I venture outside my house?

We secure a most excellent location underneath some trees. Trees = shade. Shade = at least 10 degrees cooler than the outside of shade temperature.
The Botanical Gardens staff also encourage people to swim in the lake, so bring your swimmers.

12pm is too early for me to get out of bed. Why should I sacrifice my beauty sleep?

The gardens are only open during the day, thus it is a daytime event. Besides, if you need to take a nap, we will respect you. Just ask 1234.

I really can't see myself arriving before 8pm. Will you kick on?

Yes, after festivities may feature such events as house parties, leading a choir on the tram or drinking jugs of cider in dodgy backpacker pubs.
The gardens will probably sweep us out around 8 - 8.30. Who knows where the night will take us.

I'm definitely in for the night shenans! I'm being a good Aunty during the day, which means I'll have had about 12 hours to sober up and get ready to fall in love with threethousand again.
 
So wish I could be there. In fact, maybe I should just try really hard and see if I can get out of being on call.

Is Lost Punk going to this? Not that I like that kunt and certainly don't have any desire to meet him.

I always found it a total spin out that it would still be day light when we all get kicked out at 9pm. That daylight savings stuff is strange.
 
LP promised he would go to country Vic to visit my family that day. His exact words were, 'I would really love to travel on a train for six hours round trip to hang with your cop brother and four nieces and nephews instead of drink in a park all day. Fucking hate drinking anyway.'
 
Hahaha I really need to drink less, I'm forgetting conversations all over the shop! I find it easiest to make no promises of any kind but unless there is some sweet, innocent, malleable farm girls in country Vic. maybe, sort of, possibly yes.

Pity it would cost $900 in flights for me to go to this :\ Who has a spare $900? :D
 
Hey I'm flying from the other end of the country just for this.

My plane lands at 4.30pm but I can get there by 3.30pm if I skip landing and just parachute out.
