[MEGA] Weed vs Hash

In my experience - there is a FAR less distinct and noticable odor associated with smoking hash. Of course this is partly because it is usually mixed with tobacco, but generally speaking I think the weed smell is undeniably more pungent.

p.s. Cpt. Pinkpants, you are quite right about the potency vs. quality argument, but I think his main concern here is potency by weight since he needs to combust as little material as possible. Also hash is not made with an alcohol solution - that would be hash oil :)
 
^ that's interesting.... I always thought hash was derived from steeping weed in alcohol and then reducing it... mostly I was just taking issue with the faulty logic. How is hash made then?
 
Hash is made by sifting and collecting the trichomes from the dried plant material, trichomes are the little "crystals" you will see all over a nice nug of kind bud :)

Then you take that material (often called kief powder) and heat it slightly and press it thoroughly so the resin glands burst and release some aromatic terpenoids as they oxidize. This turns the final product a darker colour, makes it more suitable for long-term storage and generally produces a smoother smoke than just unpressed kief powder.

For any hash enthusiasts, I recommend "Hashish!" by Robert Connel Clarke. It is one of the most thorough and interesting books I have ever read - covers the entire history, chemistry, pharmacology, culture, religion of hash (and cannabis in general in parts).

depends on type of hash and weed strain and potency. what is explained earlier is that hash is more potent by weight. don't ask how much more, we can't tell.

yes. it (whatever you made) will have a slight hash or weed odor, but it is only noticable if you hold them under your nose.

i'm surprised noone has mentioned it, but hash oil is the best way to smoke without odor. do a search if you don't know what it is and how it is used and how it is made, etc..;)
 
Health damage: weed vs. hashish

Which one is more cancerigenous: weed or hash smoke?
I never really thought about this but me and some friends discussed this topic this weekend, they said hash was less cancerigenous and it kinda makes sense, 'cos you don't smoke all that plant material, but I dunno for sure...
 
it's true, hash has less (i bet you were talking about carcinogens) carcinogens because it's extracted plant matter, it only contains the resin that contains a lot of active compounds. the most tar and damaging products are in the leaves of the plant, flowers even less and hash is even more clean. if you don't smoke your hash with tobacco or weed than it surely is better for your health as weed is.:)

too bad I smoke my hash with tobacco then, I gotta get some hash pipe...
it's still less harmfull than smoking weed though
 
yup I would have to agree that hash has less carcinogens. Still any smoke is not good for the lungs though.
 
Hash versus weed highs

I have always preferred hash over weed. I prefer that sweet smell of hash. Plus: I like the highs better.

I read somewhere that most hashish is made of indica plants...would this mean that the indica strains give the best 'hash-like' high? Or is it something else?

I am not sure. But from experience i know that you can make hash from both indica or sativa leafs. I have smoked hash befor and its nice..
 
Indicia seems to yield more hash than sativa, gram for gram, I think that's why more hash is made of indicia plants. I'll take buds over hash, but mixing both in a bowl is great.
 
I think hash is made of indicas too. I am from Turkey and there weed is not so popular, it has been getting popular for the last 4 years or so. People usually smoke hash and the high makes you sit down, you may not move for a while really, also it is a very calming high which very rarely produces anxiety or panic attacks.
 
i lived in India for about two years and I would alsways get that dark looking indica hash. Ive smoked the golden looking stuff too, and I dont really like it as much. The golden hash was alot more of a mellow high and often it was really grainy compared to thick solid dark hash. But to answer your question.. Hash over weed anyday.
 
Grass is better than the majority of shit hash that goes around USA at least. Bubble Hash(Ice Water hash) is really the only hash worth smoking/
 
Hash can be from Indica or sativa, as long as it is potent enough to extract the resin.

I believe some people buy a hashish strain that are best for making hash, but I am not sure.
