I don't vape regularly at all and for me it's more of something I do just once a year if that. The first time I did vape I hadn't smoked or used any THC in years so I had no tolerance at all. I don't think the vape high would last nearly that long if I had a tolerance and vaped regularly. I know other people who don't vape regularly at all and just vape a few times a year and they also report the vape high lasting 8 hours for them.
 
Okay, so I've never vaped, never been around a proper vape or anything of the sort.

What's the smell situation like when it comes to vaporized bud? A friend told me a few years back that it's more like burnt popcorn than burnt weed, but he wasn't the most credible source. When it comes to the vapor, does it smell as distinctly as weed smoke?

Just curious... I might look into getting a decent vape, but I don't want to risk the hallway outside of my front door getting danked the fuck out the way a proper smoking session does.

[Edit: I just read through the first few pages of this thread, seems like it's pretty unanimous that the smell is minimal. I'm still curious as to whether it gives off a distinct weed smell or not, though.]

It still smells strongly. Really not much of an advantage other than no stale smoke smell. It has a nice aroma, still pretty powerful smell though. Its not any more stealth.
 
i find there's hardly a smell and the smell that is there is a really nice sort of popcorn/hay (very light and airy) smell but better. IMO it's far more stealthy than any other method and the smell is not suspicious. I vape in a room with the door closed and i never smell anything outside that room.

I sometimes smoke bongs and the smell is so much stronger. One of the big reasons i switched to vaping was for the stealth so i didn't have to be paranoid about getting high in an apartment.

Good stuff, that's the reason I'm asking. Seems like Spin's opinion differs, though.... I guess the only way to find out for my own purposes is to go ahead and try it out myself. Thanks, both of you.
 
Vapor IME doesn't smell nearly as much as pot smoke does. Vapor also does not linger nearly as long as smoke does. Even with smoking herb out of a one hitter, using a spoof, and all that it still smells sort of like herb but when I've vaporized I don't use any of that at all and there's pretty much no lingering smell.

I've vaporized with a magic flight launch box indoors and there's virtually no smell at all. But if I light a candle for a few seconds and then blow it out even that smells way more than vapor does.
 
My magic flight launch box does have a smell at times - but it's usually when some sludge has built up on the screen. I clean it gently with rubbing alcohol and a q tip, then run a couple batteries through it to burn off any remaining rubbing alcohol, and it's clean as new and almost smoke free.

I love my magic flight. Since I got it I have pretty much stopped smoking J's or the pipe - although sometimes when I'm after couch lock I will still reach for my bong or edibles.

I do wish the magic flight had more accurate control of the temperature. However that would compromise some of the best features of the launch box - it's dead simple, reliable and compact construction. It really is tiny.
 
There's barely any smell when vaporizing, just don't go overboard with the temperatures and exhale half of the vapor into the room. Though even then it smells considerably less than smoke, barely noticeable imo.

I don't have the power adapter since when I bought the MFLB they didn't have one and the batteries work fine for me but I've read on other sites about vaporizers about how with the plug in power adapter for the MFLB you can adjust the temperature for the MFLB.
 
Just got my mflb a few hours ago :). I have no weed at the moment though... sucks to have a new device and no green to try it out :P. I'm picking up a quarter of champagne kush tomorrow though, so I'm alright.

I'll report about how it smells after trying it.
 
I'm on a site about vaporizing and people there have said how when you use a vaporizer you're supposed to hold the vapor in until it's all absorbed, which isn't that long anyway. IME you don't really exhale that much vapor anyway.

@Poak-Make sure the herb is ground up before putting it into the MFLB. Not nearly as fine as powder or espresso but you don't want intact shake or bud at all.

If you exhale through a window then there shouldn't be almost any smell, might depend on the vape model. The vapor itself has a mild odor which is different to smoke and if you have no means of ventilating the room, it might linger there a little bit. This only happens when you use high temperatures and breath too shallow/too fast so that the vapor isn't absorbed properly in the lungs though. It's possible to use vaporizers in such a manner that you exhale virtually no vapor which means you don't have to aim for a window or anything.

After a wander around the shops the other day, i come across a Wooden Mortar and Pestle...

My eyes quickly decided that with 2 cuts with a saw, and a bit of sanding i would have the perfect weed bowl for my whip vape. (Vaped weed in the bowl)

When I was in high school I had friends who would empty out a polar pop cup, stick their pocket vape in there, and have the mouthpiece come out of the straw hole to make it look like a normal drink. Nearly EVERYDAY these kids would vape in the cafeteria during lunch. They always got away with it, and no one at the tables surrounding us never said anything about the smell or even knew what was going on.

I do think smoking weed during school is really stupid and completely not worth the risk. However, there was no noticeable weed smell from the actual vapor. The only time I remember getting hints of weed smell was when some idiot opened up the bowl and wanted to pack more right there at the table.

Only other vape I smoked was a volcano with a turkey bag instead of the original bag, which belonged to a buddy. We were still in high school, lived at home and smoking inside was always out of the question until he got the volcano. Pretty much from that point on, we always vaped in his room with his parents home or not, and they never smelled anything. His parents also used to smoke, and they still weren't able to pick up on it. Could of possibly smelled a bit in his room, but with the door shut and no windows open we were always fine and nothing ever leaked out into the hallway.
 
I think that with a computer fan + carbon filter setup, you could make a smell eliminator

My friend got kicked outa college for using a volcano in his apartment. It still smells. Heck even opening my jar is enough to let someone nearby know im smoking weed. My vaporizer has a smell to it even without using it. The area it is in the room smells like weed.
 
I havent vaped a hit in a long time. I have a Vapor brothers vaporizer, it works great. My only complaint with it though, and its not a really a complaint about the product, I wish I would have gotten the kind where you can leave the whip on the heating element, instead of mine, where I have to hold it to the heating element.
 
Owning a vaporizer has really improved the sex life of me my stoner partner, which has been an unforeseen blessing with buying a vape. The high has all the tactile enchantment without the sluggishness, which is very conductive. I don't want to go into detail but its a thought for anyone who smokes a lot with their loved one :)
