Why does no one manufacture rolling papers made of tobacco? Like, joint sized blunt wraps. Yesterday I wanted to smoke a joint but had no papers, so I cut a blunt in half and rolled each half into a mini blunt. Seemed to work better then a joint, actually.

Tobacco smoke is much smoother then paper smoke.

You gotta buy a box of Royal Blunt wraps and just cut em in half like you mentioned. One box is like *we don't do prices*, so you get 100 small blunts as you described. (Each thing has 2 tubes, splitting each tube in half, ya know? math lol)

I'm really surprised to see all the responses here, because when I put warm/almost hot water in my bong, it's WAY smoother and me and my girl both agree we can take much bigger hits (often without noticing the size until you blow it out)

this

i agree that inhalation can be easier with a properly hydrated hit (possible only with warm water), however warm water also leads to a stale-tasting hit.

add to this the fact that most stoners leave the bong water to ferment for weeks without changing (so it becomes a nice thick ash & noodle stew), and you've got a recipe for bacterial lung infection.

i'd say rule of thumb: fresh cold water, ice is optional, and for god's sake change the water every time a few grams goes through!

art, do you think that this has been covered a satisfactory extent at that it can therefore be merged back into the megathread?

There were a lot of relevant responses this time around, but these were anecdotal and based on personal experience and judgment.

I'd really like someone to chime in with an objective, scientific explanation as to whether colder or hotter would be a healthier choice. I'd like a little more time if that's not a problem. Do you think I'd get better answers in ADD?

Personally, I think mine and sekio's (not exhaustive, they just spring to mind) were pretty sceintific. Cold water will dissolve more toxins. Cold water is better.

i usually dont smoke at either extreme of the temperature scale because the bong i smoke stays at room temp i have tried smoking with cold water + ice cubes in an ice catcher and it was pleasantly smooth not to mention easy on the lungs :)

ok so if cold water filters more toxins and hot water makes it smoother, has anybody ever filled an ash catcher with super cold water and then the bong with hot water?

and some variation of that.

it might be the ultimate hit.

... AND an ice pinch. then it fucking owns, I guess. Someone try it!

The high temperature of smoke damages the oral tract and lungs.
Cold water lowers the temperature of the smoke.
Simple enough.

Disagre. I think its been well documented that cannabis is is a bronchodialator (the "oral tract" you referred to) and does not inhibit lung functioning. The smoke is not cooled much by the time it enters the body, feel free to prove me wrong though.

I've never really understood the "high temperature" claim. I can feel when the smoke is cold as I inhale (like with an ice pinch) but it never feels hot. Definitely not hot enough to cause damage. This smells like a Reefer Madness era myth.

^^ He's referring to the temperature of smoke being lowered that's filtered with cold bong water.

If you ever smoke from a dry pipe or joint/blunt, don't you feel that burn form the heat of the smoke? It's soothing to drink cold water after these hits, so I'm assuming the pain is caused by the heat of the smoke. I don't get that burn with cold bong water, so I think there's truth to that claim.

Most ppl like the COLD bong... .but I LOVE a nice steamy hot-bong.

Ppl who know whats up ; will provide hospitality best with a steamy "hot-bong"
