Finally success with the "ice-o-later" tek
Alright, so I've posted in quite a few threads about this
this tek.
I tried it once several months ago with no success. However today I had some spare time on my hands and my order of poppies arrived. So I figured what the hell and gave it a shot.
I followed the directions on the link above except, I made my tea like usual, heating it on low for 30 minutes. Which as I learned from reading today was a bad idea...you do not want to heat the ground poppy/water solution. Heating it only releases more plant oils and plant oils are exactly what you're trying to remove with this tek.
I used around 20 medium sized pods and 2 liters (or so) of water, when I was done brewing I had around 1.5 liters. I let the mix cool to a reasonable temperature then filtered like usual with a t shirt and put the tea into 3 plastic bottles.
I then put the bottles in the freezer where they remained for roughly an hour (maybe 1.5 hours). After waiting I took the bottles out of the freezer (which were now 1/3-1/2 ice). I discarded the ice which was mostly clear with some brown in areas and put the dark brown solution into another bottle. I repeated the process and removal of ice 3 times on each bottle. Each time the solution got darker and darker.
I saved the discarded ice for comparison and after it melted it was several shades lighter than the tea, with visible particulate matter floating in it.
After doing this 3 times I had about .75 liters of very dark 'tea.' So I figured cool I must have been removing something, I just hoped I was removing the stuff that would prevent me from smoking this.
Next a small amount of concentrated tea was poured on a plate and left in front of a space heater to evaporate. When done evaporating it didn't look much different than pod putty and I was kind of bummed. BUT when I was scraping the plate clean I noticed it wasn't quite as thick as pod puddy. Actually in the areas that were thin, I was scrapping off a golden-brown flakes compared to sticky icky pod putty goo. In the areas where the solution pooled and was thicker, it looked similar to pod putty but not quite the same. Possibly because it wasn't dried to the extent of the thinner areas.
Anyway, the moment of truth:
I placed some of the golden brown flakes onto some tin foil and held a lighter underneath it. And hooray it started smoking. Now I should mention the one and only time I tried to smoke pod putty, it hardly smoked at all. And after a few hits (with putty) it just turned into a rock hard lump and it was beat. This stuff not only smoked (and got cherried) but after a couple hits it turned to ash. It did not taste good. However it had a sweet hint and was not harsh...it just didnt taste good. It pretty much tasted like burning mixed with the smell it makes when you brew tea. I think if I used cold water when brewing the tea, I think the taste may be improved and the texture may be less sticky. well only the parts that weren't 100% dry were sticky but anyway...
The effects?
I put a question mark because I was already high, so I can't tell how potent this stuff is. However after several hits, I felt warmth from within and relaxation creep up on me. It wasn't like the rush you get from fent or heroin, but I did feel something. I also noticed when I blinked my eyes it seemed to take longer than usual and my eyelids felt heavier than before smoking. I feel itchier too. Nothing amazing but possibly more than placebo. I probably only smoked a tenth. Considering refined opium is about 10% morphine, a tenth of this probably didn't have much morphine (maybe 10mgs) plus the other alkaloids. Which isn't terrible considering 30mgs of morphine would provide quite the rush.
I have more experimenting to do with this before I become a true believer but I think I might have finally got this to work. I'll write more about this if people want to know specifics. If anyone else has done it/would like to do it and would care to share with the rest of us that would be greatly appreciated. This is definitely something worth checking out, even if its just for novelty/having some fun in the kitchen. I'm going to go try out another tenth. peace
edit: wow! You know how I said earlier the thicker of the evap dish resembled pod putty? Not anymore. It's hard to describe but it's dried out. It doesn't stick to your fingers, it pretty much resembles hash, not like bubblebag hash and (not honey/iso hash either) but somewhere in between. I'll post pics tomorrow. but this definitely looks like the real deal and smokes like the real deal.
