Opioids Mega Merged: Ultimate poppy pod/seed tea thread - Part II

Moderate Batch - These guys seem to be the most common and I have obtained them from several vendors. The poppies tend to be mostly light colored. The tea they produce from 1/2 cup of grounds is usually light colored, almost clear enough to see through. The tea is not very bitter, and the high was strange. There was a pronounced opiate effect, but there seemed to be some side effects that had to be endured. I would usually feel an uncomfortable alertness, sometimes some slight muscle tension. I obtained these most commonly.

Good Batch - These poppies are light and dark colored, but the color of the poppy isn't whats important. 1/2 cup of grounds would brew into a very dark tea, like coffee dark, and the flavor would be very very bitter. The high is fantastic, they feel like straight morphine and seem to be nearly 2x as potent as the pods that I usually run into. I have found a source for these at the moment, they use to be the large sized ones but now only the medium sizes pods seem to yield such a dark satisfying tea.

Tsukasa, yours sound to me like the 2nd pod type I have encountered. I remember back in the good ol' days (before habituation had reared its ugly face) I would occasionally drink a fair amount of tea and feel great from the morphine, but I had a slight discomfort over top and more than once I had to lay down and relax. I believed this to be the effect of some of the undesirable alkaloids. My theory was that I was feeling noscapine (sigma ligand) because the feeling reminded me of DXM (also sigma ligand), the way my muscles would tighten and I felt extremely alert.

Yea, that would be my guess. They get me moderately high, nothing fantastic, but they're also kind of edgy. Some stomach discomfort (no nausea fortunately) and just a general dirty feel.

I guess I will just use them as potentiator's for my kratom. Do you have any advice for how to identify good poppies? or what time of the year it's best to buy them and what kind? My supplier says they're papaver somniferum. I'm thinking of trying some tasmanians, giganteums, or arizona purples, since those have gotten good reviews.

I also found this interesting article. http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6067749.html

I always just made a tea out of the dried pods. Does eating a fresh pod mean that there is a bunch of white sap inside? or is that all dried up or what?

hell yeah. thats what i get every time and its good to know that i am getting the good ones. i dont think i've gotten any that weren't like you describe except for maybe the first time i ordered them. i cant remember though because i didn't really drink it and was high on oxy anyway.

Hey Stinknan, how are ya? Seems we're in a similar boat at the mo! I just last night crept into a public park which is overlooked by dozens of windows, to pluck dozens of pods. Slicing for opium just isn't really worth it unless you literally have HUNDREDS of pods, anyways these pods are pretty low in morphine & i've been blending 25 fresh pods which i then steep & strain with lemon/lime juice & i've been getting good relief for my back probs & some pretty good sedation, but contrarily some fair stimulation (thebaine?) I'm jabbering but damn, i'd love to hear from ya on your tea methods/experiences. We are fellow brits afterall! & yes it is some gooey shit! Try a glass of ginger beer afterwards--really helps the nausea!!

yeah i like the ginger beer too, when i do tea.

thankfully, for most of the season i just get O.
there are thousands of poppies growing in my town.

Quick note, I Guess the question I should be asking is does some kind of reverse capiliary action take place if the stem and pod are removed from the plant...

Anyone?

yes the pods will continue to bleed after you cut them off the plant. I cut some and let them sit for six hours and was still able to get some sap to bleed out. But i decided to stop after i got about a half gram of O and just dry the pods and make tea.

^this is correct.

I have a question about my pod tea: i notice 2 different layers of plant matter that separate out during the tea making, one layer consists of larger chunks that float, and the other is finer chunks that don't. and between the 2 layers is the dark colored tea. My question is should that layer that is floating be chopped up finer to allow for better extraction? or does it not really matter?

i think that top layer may be the thicker parts like the crown and the nub that connects to the stem. they dont seem to grind up nicely and i've been straining them out of mine. if you already take them out then its just not evenly ground up. i wouldn't worry about it too much though because im sure its already small enough, plus its not like your whole batch is like that.

anyone else get really fuckin angry on pods? i know opiates can cause anger and make you irritable and easily agitated, but i've been getting insane lately. all day today i was ready to snap and the only thing that really pissed me off was that my brother took my car and then when he gave it back the radio didn't work. i figured it was only a loose connection and was right but still, i was so pissed off about that i wanted to punch a million holes in my wall. i feel like its gonna give me a damn ulcer or a heart attack since im holding it in so much and not doing anything to cope with it.

I have my pods tied up sitting on the concrete hoping they will dry out ok. They've already been milked. Is this a proper way? Oh and they are leaning up against something so they are kinda upside down. I'm worried about bugs getting in them at night though.

Poppy Tea questions

Hey there everyone, I've lurked these boards for awhile and finally feel the need to start posting... I have several questions concerning poppy tea, but instead of creating 10 different threads I thought I'd confine them all to just this one. Also, I'm sorry if any or all of my post comes off as being redundant; I have tried to find the answers to my questions on my own, but there's alot of misinformation, disagreement, and confusion out there about these subjects...

First a bit of background info: I've been on some sort of opiate for about 5 years now, for chronic pain... About a year ago I decided to quit using pills and used Kratom to substitute. This lasted for about 5-6 months before I started to get too tolerant and the kratom just wasn't helping the pain anymore. This is when I started looking into poppy tea, and for the past 3 months or so I've been drinking it daily. First it started out that I'd try to just use it once or twice a week, but you know how that goes when you have chronic pain.. I can't predict when I'm going to need it, so I end up doing it irregularly, which turns into every day because I don't want to go into withdrawl while having to work and function. So that brings me to where I am.

My process is that when I come home, I pick out enough pods to make at least 1 cup of "poppy straw", grind them up, pour another cup of hot water in, and add lemon juice. I let this sit for exactly 30 minutes, then strain. I then like to mix it with grapefruit juice, which brings me to my first question:

1. Which type of Grapefruit Juice works best to potentiate poppy tea?

I've heard White, but there seems to be some disagreement on this. I usually buy each flavor, to experiment with, and thus far I haven't been able to objectively tell which is better. I know the Ruby Red tastes better, probably because of the higher sugar content, but I'm looking for whatever works best.

I also use DXM pills to potentiate the PT... I have noticed a definite effect from using DXM, but I'm not sure if I should be taking it earlier in the process, or if I should take more... I usually take about 50mg 1-2 hours after drinking the first cup, but-

2. What dosage of DXM should be taken, and when should it be taken in the process?

Also, regarding other possible potentiators..

3. I've read references to "cimetidine, tagamet, famotidine, and Calcium Carbonate". Which of these would work better than what I'm doing now? I'm pretty much clueless about any of these substances.

My next question is what I'm most curious about. As you can imagine, doing this process every single day is a real pain in the ass. If only I could do it all at once, and be good-to-go for the whole week...

4. How long does PoppyTea stay potent in refridgeration? Could I make several large batches at once, filling up jugs and storing them for later in the week? Would I lose any potency?

This last question is what I'm most curious about. If I could do it all at once, it would save me alot of hassle, and annoyance. (My girlfriend is starting to get fed up with the sound of the blender sawing up pods each day after work!)

Anyways, thanks for reading this far, and for any help you may be able to provide. Even a link would be great, Peace!

Answers to every one of these questions could be found in <15 minutes of searching.

4.Not long, all the natural yeasts and bacteria get to work pretty quickly. Nothing happens to the morphine but the mixture will become toxic to drink.

3.Antihistamines and certain enzyme inhibitors help to increase sedation and prolong the high. Nobody can say what will work best for you.

2.DXM doses for keeping tolerance down is an experimental concept and isn't regularly practiced in medicine or abuse. Doses that people have taken for these purposes are very small (sub theraputic/anti-tussive).

1.Fresh squeezed white grapefruit juice has the highest concentration of the enzyme inhibiting compound.

Welcome to bluelight. Court the search engine lovingly.

Thanks a lot, I'm sorry to be redundant but I tried searching and there seemed to be alot of misinformation out there about these questions. I appreciate you taking the time to answer them!

Wait, I'm confused. What your talking about happening (mixture becoming toxic to drink), you are talking about if you had the straw already in the water, right? When I get my pods, I grind them all up at once (usually a few weeks worth), put them in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge.

That is ok for storing them, right? Or am I making a lovely batch of crap each time?

Adamist, if you are curious about more issues surrounding PPT then check out the Poppy pod/seed tea megathread... if its not on the front page, it won't be hard to find.

Myself and a few others tried extensively to use DXM to reduce tolerance or even stop it from growing and none of us had very successful results. I just tried to find the thread where a few of us (mostly myself and morphonorconic) did this but apparently the thread was pruned.

DXM combined with morphine or other opiates has been shown to successfully increase the analgesia without increasing as many side effects... if you are purely looking for pain management, this can be useful however the reduced side effects are the ones you'd want if you are using recreationally.

You need to keep in mind that using grapefruit juice isnt a great idea if you're taking any other type of medication/drug. Enzyme P450 is needed to break down all sorts of drugs and substances and inhibiting it could lead to some bad consequences. This isnt like one of those theoretical things, people have died from ingesting grapefruit with certain pharmaceuticals.

Why are you keeping them if they've already been milked?

Can someone answer my question about getting cuttings to grow using rooting hormone gel? What part of the plant should I use and what shape/size should I use? I've heard many different recommendations as to what I should use but I can't for the life of me decide what the best way to do it would be...

anyone else get really fuckin angry on pods?

Yes, very much so, although correct me if I'm wrong but I always understood that this is a common experience people generally tend to have on opiates or opioids in general.
