Tambo edit: As of 15/03/2012, this issue has been fixed.

Tambo edit: When the "invalid URL" message appears, the problem is not with your host (such as imageshack or photobucket), it's simply to do with script that pops up when you use the following button:

All this button is supposed to do is add the [img][/img] tags around the URL of the image you wish to display. Unfortunately, it isn't working.

Simple solution: don't use the button and just type the [img][/img] manually around the URL of the image you wish to display.

Some hosts (such as tinypic, imageshack and photobucket) already provide direct links to hosted files with the [img][/img] tags added for your copy-pasting convenience.

I was trying to post in a picture thread, but every time i try to use my photobucket account links, it doesnt work. Previous to the changeover, I had no problems with this, but now it doesn't seem to want to work...any idea why, or what i might be doing wrong?

Getting error when trying to post image

I would put a screen shot of the error but alas I get an error. Was not sure if you were all aware of this problem.

its something like invalid URL. But it seems to be happening with every URL.

Thanks

I just posted some images from ImageShack. I just used the "forum code" that they provide after you upload it on there. It should still just be

Maybe you can post here what exactly you type in, and then maybe we can see if we can see a problem in the code. It may be unlikely since writing a URL in kinda messes with it, but it may be worth a shot.

Tried both a direct copy/paste from photobucket's link list, along with putting the image within it's own link.

No problem there. Although, I did notice before that vB was putting strange "speech marks" around URLs when you create links via the link button.

Any chance you've re-used the URL and let a stray " in there?

^ It does that for the actual URL, correct? And the second area with the URL is where you can write what you want it to say, like in the pic below, the link would appear saying "like this" and would be a link to photobucket.

NSFW:

It also has an equal sign before the first apostrophe, but that may have been the same way for the previous version.

Tommy: yeah, i don't recall the actual URLs having "" in them in the old board.

rincewindrocks: Actually, it might be easier if you posted an example of what you attempted to do (or link us to the post where it didn't work).

Here is a screenshot of my post above, so you can see how it was written. I use ImageShack though, and I have the NSFW tags around it as well.

I was unable to post an image yesterday as well.

Let me try this morning.

im having the same problem with the image button, typing
works though.

OK... I see what you're saying.

The script produces a pop-up asking for the picture's URL, and then it refuses to play ball.

It's noticeable that the popup prompt that appears for the insertion of a standard weblink or email address is visually different than the popup that appears for the insertion of an image.

Different types of script???

yep was just coming to report the image button is broken, it thinks all links are invalid but if u type the code for images it works fine which proves the link aint invalid

this is on google chrome and in any reply dialogue box ive tried so far ,i will jump on to firefox n see if its the same

Looks more like HTML now, which is easier for me to remember. I was actually wondering why this changed myself, though you can actually do it either way now.
