It is probably worth noting at this point that this strong seedling is the only one of the 5 that I have in soil that is marketed as seedling soil, the other 4 are in potting soil that presumably has some nutrients (atleast one definitely has "dynamic lifter" added) and could maybe be burning my plants. Still, it really concerns me that shit might be going really wrong with the other ones if this one is doing so well and they are not.

Seedlings in potting soil is a big no no. The only way I would ever consider using potting soil for seedlings is if it was diluted by 50% with perlite or coir. To me if the one seedling that is doing well is in seedling soil then there is a very good chance the potting soil is too hot (which is what I would expect).

I have them in 8 oz/237mL styrofoam cups that have 4 or 5 half centimentre holes for drainage (is this too much btw lol)

If the soil is not falling out the holes are not too big. The holes just need to be able to drain the water when you water the cups.

It does seem like they have been drying out quite quick which is why I wonder if I have too many/too large drainage holes

Small pots equal large surface area to volume ratio and drying out is a problem. Either use a propagator with the vents open or pot up to a slightly larger pot. I water seedlings in small pots or root riots regularly, once to twice a day.

The setup is in a garage, and even though it is spring here it has been unusually cold, so I am wondering if the low night temperatures could be stressing them out, it would also potentially explain why the more indica leaning plant is doing better than the others.

Temps at night must not fall below 18C, or 16C at the ABSOLUTE minimum, although aim for 18C because any lower than this, even by a degree, will cause some degree of stunting. You need to monitor temps with a digital thermometer and use a thermostatically controlled heater if temps need to be brought up.

I don't have a way to test the soil Ph, but since they are all planted in store bought soils and less than 3 weeks old I would of thought they couldn't be that out of range. I actually went to buy a soil testing ph kit over a week ago, but the instructions said I needed three soil samples, one from top, one from middle and one from the bottom, how the fuck is anyone meant to get that out of a styrofoam cup without damaging the plant roots it is ridiculous

Store bought container soils should not have to have the pH adjusted. If they do it would be the same level of incompetence as a car manufacturer forgetting to put an engine into the car - it is so fundamental any good manufacturer will be dealing with this. Any attempt to change it could very well end up with you just making your issues even worse. Try to use the KISS approach where possible.

Thanks for that AE, that all makes sense. I am going to start some new ones in the seedling soil and only have 4 in total under that light, gonna give my 3 worst for wear ones to a mate of mine to look after for awhile.

The temperature is really outside of my control at this point, it has been way colder at night than it should for this time of year. The cold nights really shouldn't last much longer and I am crossing my fingers that they don't.
 
^yeah weve been getting cooler nights and half the week im waking up to fog. i havent planted anything yet, waiting for the more predictable outdoor weather up here.

If the plants are small you can use a heat mat. Even a reptile heat mat would work, with a cheap thermostat with probe like the TC-10.

Thanks mate, I'm so eager to give them the chop! They are as organic as you are going to get. Even the peat is organic which is unusual since peat moss harvesting is unsustainable and as such, plants grown in peat moss soilless mixes cannot be called organic. The plants should taste and smell great. Next year I'm definitely taking cuttings for a mum, that's for sure. The plan is to get a green Dutch Passion Frisian Dew phenotype if I can as well.
 
i grow outdoors and organic as well on my property, ae. have a lights set up but the old man and i prefer natural as you can get. it is so much better to smoke and quality imo. i distance myself from hydro.
 
i hope noone spots them from that undercover area i see in the top pic in the last batch of photos, AE. have you sussed the view from over there for peace of mind?
 
I think its just a leaf creating the illusion of a covered area due to the angle of the photo, or I need my eyes checked.

Hydro is a joke compared to organic. The taste, smell, and high are so much better, its black and white.
 
Oh you can blatantly see the plants from the path. The whole area is fenced off with a barbed wire fence and is private, so not many people go past but when they do there's always a risk of it getting discovered, and I certainly plan for that. I mean I'm going to be honest, it's a pretty poor place to grow but it gets sunshine and it's been okay up until now. The thing about the plants is unless you know what you are looking for and you're looking straight at the plants they somewhat blend into the background as a nondescript bunch of green foliage that could be anything. However the sooner I can give them the chop the better, if for no reason than the fact that the whole area is honking. I really don't know how they've survived up until now and every time I see my plants I breathe a sigh of relief that they've lived to see another day. I always feel on edge though, that's for sure. I am worried about the logistics of transporting the bud back with no car. I've bought a 35L barrel so hopefully that will contain the smell but god knows what I will do if anyone demands to see the contents.

Next year I am determined to find somewhere better but with no car it's so hard. If I keep trying I'm bound to find somewhere eventually. It might take months but it will happen.

sounds like you have to be pretty cautious indeed. i hope for all the hard yards youve gone through that theyre not found and destroyed or simply pinched before y ou call the time to strip. shit would be heartbreaking to lose it all at a time right now :(

have you a friend with a transit van or station wagon to discretely as possible transport it out? theyd be my two top picks unless i were to stuff in duffle bags and go about it in another way,

anyway, theyre lookin tasty and healthy as fuck so dont lose the fuckers or ill probably shed a few tears on your behalf :(

I do have a friend with a car that I would normally use for that sort of thing but I don't really tell anyone irl that I grow so that's out of the question unfortunately. The barrel I bought is airtight so unless someone is going to open it it should in theory also be smell proof, but I'll just have to see. It should arrive right around the time they are ready to harvest (the purple marocs that is) so it should work out to my advantage. The outdoor grapefruit plants from female seeds still have a long way to go before they're even near ready (mid November was the estimate from another grower) and the frisian dew has a good few weeks. I reckon there's a 90% chance it will be okay and I mean I'd have to be so incredibly unlucky to lose the plants at this point it would be silly. I've transported suitcases full of water loads of times on the bus with no questions so I think it wouldn't be an issue, although I'll probably just be better literally walking the whole journey. It depends on how big the barrel actually is.

I have a Nirvana - Chrystal and a Greenhouse - Exodus Cheese outside right now. I had a tiny little emerald triangle - lemon diesel but it was a funky phenotype that wasnt of much use. Figure ill give a quick review of the two good ones...

The Chrystal is a more sativa leaning pheno comapred to the ones ive grown in the past. maybe more thai from the NL?? idk... Either way. It was easy to get it into about 15 tops or so. not the biggest buds tho, but covered in resin. nice sweet-ish floral/fruity kinda scent so far. ive loved this strain the other times ive had it. so far this is the most sativa ive seen it grow. Its got about 10-15 days until full finish...

The exo-cheese, or so they say, is a strange but nice one. Like many many others have said and will continue to say: this doesnt seem like any real cheese ive ever smoked imo. that being said, forget its a "cheese". Its more like an extremely fruity, almost sickeningly strong scented plant. Ive smelled the scent before on weed plants, but 10+ years ago. Its hard to describe, kinda like that generic candy smell you get when you stick your head into a huge bag of mixed halloween candy. It grew like an indica structure wise... but has very sativa looking leaves with very narrow fingers. very good yielder, nice tight nodes. Its about done flowering, maybe another 5-8 days tops id say.

the exo-cheese took me by surprise, i wish i would have cloned it. its a cheap strain to buy too, and has that bad rep about it being a fake "exodus cheese" so i didnt know what to expect really.

grew them directly in the earth, partial shade in MI climate. used mostly Roots Organics Buddha Grow and Buddha Bloom along with Trinity bio-catalyst. used evaporated tap water.

Hello! I'm smoking a strain of Grandaddy Purp, not a 100% pure strain though. I have seeds to multiple strains of medical grade marijuana and would like to grow for personal use only. No sales intended. However, I want to have a product that's absolutely amazing. I live in Florida and it's very humid here during the summer. How do I go about starting my own nursery for medical grade weed? I'd like to know the following specifics if possible, hopefully this thread can help others.

  • How to prevent smell
  • How to properly dry and manicure bud without losing any potency
  • What kind of soil or fertilizer not only kills insects but keeps a plants buds as big and potent as possible
  • What is the best light cycle
  • What can I use to further nutrient my plant to produce dense buds
  • Do specific strains require different growing environment
  • Does climate and humidity play a big role in growth? If so how

have you done much research on the topic of growing yourself?

i think it would be easier if you learnt everything you could about growing

and then come back here with questions about things you are unsure of...
