[MEGA] Cannabis Addiction & Withdrawal

I am addicted to weed insofar as I like to smoke a g+ a day & have for years. Today my man was out & I will run out of weed before I see him again next week but it is no big deal. If I have a few sleepless nights thats how it is. I find if I have weed I "have" to smoke it but if I don't after a week I don't miss it & always regret picking up the bong again.

why does this topic come up so much? are you smoking that much weed that it is interfering with your life? Just get your priorities straight and smoke a gram at night if you want to. I usually only smoke weed while tripping now but i used to smoke daily, didn't affect my life negatively.

Addiction is defined as using a drug despite the drug creating negative consequences in your life and is also characterized by cravings. How is cannabis negatively affecting your life? Just because you smoke it every single day, even every hour doesn't mean it affects your life negatively, you may get cravings but if you moderate your use, learn to live with/without it, then it's not really a big issue. It's also one of the cheapest drugs you can find on the illicit market, though benzos can be cheaper but still, financially, most people can support smoking every single day without any issues.

and if you are physically dependent on cannabis, which does happen, then just don't run out, grow your own or keep a backup supply in case things go dry. Other than that, you'll quit when the negatives outweigh the positives, until then enjoy yourself and quit worrying about addiction. If the negatives never outweigh the positives then who cares, it's not like it's going to kill you.

If you get bad grades because you are smoking weed all the time, does that mean you are addicted to weed or does that mean you'd rather smoke weed than get good grades (subtle but important difference)? Even if you use a lot and some of your life "suffers" because of it I wouldn't necessarily call it addiction. Addiction can be thrown around for anything (and in the DSM-V they are going to change the definition of addiction to include a lot more) including computers, video games, TV, eating junk food, working out too much, cleaning etc. If you like doing something - anything - more than the normal amount, most likely some part of your life will be negatively affected.

Honestly though, most people who claim to be weed addicts don't know what addiction really is. It's amazing how unaddictive weed considering its potency. We should be so lucky to have something so awesome with so little consequences.

^yes very true - hell i can't even smoke cannabis because i find it too strong now but any other drug is fine! it's too bad really because cannabis is so safe, fun and cheap. As long as you are smart and responsible, there's no way it should affect your life negatively, i got through university no problem getting high every single hour of the day. Though i do have a much more clear head these days not smoking but it doesn't make a huge difference.

I think cannabis has the addiction potential of a fast food cheeseburger.

I know a hot a ( formally) hot Russian broad who got addicted to cheeseburgers....

As far as weed goes I smoke it if I got it.

weird i dont find ganja addictive at all - and its illegal.. :|

nicotine / spin / tobacco the most addictive shit on earth - and its legal!!! :sus:

Weed acts like a mood-stabilizer for me so it is addictive in a sense. I'm bipolar and have relied on cannabis for quite some time. Not by choice. I gave the medical profession first go. I'm very addicted to the high of course after years of being constantly stoned but I can do without it. However the mood swings, lack of sleep, anger, and extreme anxiety I can't stand.

Hey weekend addiction, I'm bipolar as well. Smoked weed daily for years and years with no problems. Traditional psych meds would work for a while then lost their effectiveness eventually. Plus I can't see a doctor since I lost my health insurance. I feel it kept me balanced like nothing else but I havn't smoked consistently in over a decade.

I had a professor in college tell me there's nothing wrong fundamentally with getting high on weed. Yet it you feel like you Have to use it, you might have a problem. I had a friend who would get real grumpy when she couldn't smoke, like she was on fire and I didn't want to be around that.

Then there's my son, who chipped around with weed in middle school and stopped no problem. Then started smoking full-time at age 14 and just could not quit. I'm not sure if it's the weed itself or just the need to be stoned on something. He took cold tablets, cough syrup, Xanax and whatever else he could get when he couldn't have weed. Like Bennyza said getting addicted to being intoxicated in general.

I was actually talking about that with my mum today. I want to quit so badly as I spend more money on cigarettes than cannabis & I smoke at least 7-10g a week. If I could stop spinning my weed I would have a better chance of quitting. Trying to get into the mindset that if I quit I can reward myself with a fat unspun bowl when I get home from work & another couple after dinner.

i generally cant have weed around if im quitting tobacco because a big part of the weed experience for me is having cigs while blazed

im still on the fence as to whether my new plan (weekend warrior) will work, evry time i try set boundaries with me and weed i always come crawling back to getting high all day every day

We humans have the strange ability to get addicted to everything under the sun. Whether it's sex, food, writing, masturbation, chewing gum, cutting, anger, reading, tanning, plastic surgery, or licking cats, there is an addiction for everyone. Just because a small group of people find themselves addicted to something, does't make the substance or act itself addictive. While there are things out there that are addictive and can be judged so by their high addiction rate, (crack, heroin, meth, nicotine, alcohol) I really do not believe that marijuana falls under this category.

I myself smoked weed off and and from 21-33. There were quite a few times where I did quit in that period and I never had any problems staying away from it. To tell you the truth, I can't remember the last time I've smoked it since then, but it's been a few years. I've had plenty of friends who were the same way. Toked until they choked for years and just quit for good, either for the sake of a job or because they just felt they needed to move on with their lives and having an illegal substance just wasn't worth it.

the 'wests' food addiction is a bigger issue than ganja or drugs for that matter.

obesity and health related issues as a direct result of poor diet must be a larger cost to our health care system than drugs. diabetes, allergies, heart disease, etc.

society is a fucking mess and there is no worse society on the face of this earth than that of contemporary merica.

praise the lord, the father, the holy spirit.

As long you are doing something productive (like having a job/school) i don't see you why not "just 420blaze erryday fgt" LOL

I am a weed fiend of the biggest kind. I managed to smoke huge amounts daily and still hold down a job and function. I was a bit withdrawn but weed makes me anxious around people.

It wasn't until I started using opioids and powders that I lost control. My life became a train wreck and after only a few months on hard drugs, I was unemployed and had no friends. At 25 I had to go and live with my parents to sort my shit out. It didn't work, im on everything besides ice again. Im holding the fort so far but I know it won't last.

Weed is addictive but it's got nothing on powders. I guess everyone has their doc though and if that's weed, that's what you will miss the most.

Weed is not at all - even mentally - addictive to me. That is all I can say but this is just me, others do seem to find it so, however IME that is in the minority big time.

Weed is not physically addictive, but it can be mentally addictive (just like anything else at all) I can understand how easy it can be to get addicted to especially if you suffer from depression or something and you long for an escape from reality. That's what I'm like. Just make sure weed isn't ruling your life because that's when you have a real problem. If it's interfering with your life negatively it might be time to make a change. Maybe you could try weening yourself off? Or talk to someone who can support you? I know this might not work for everyone but it's just a suggestion. Good luck my friend!
