I think this plant would put out numerous branches if it were topped.....the nodes are closely spaced. More branches would come in handy for cloning..
 
I dont know how to top, I asked before how, but it wasn't quite clear to me, seems , just pinch off the top , newest growth or what?

I also wanted to start LST and Supercrop the branches, when should I start doing this? and when would it be okay to top the plant, how long does it take for the plant to repair and start putting out new leaves.?
 
Well, looked it up online, tried it on my outdoor first, except, I also accidently cut off two leaves while trying to get the new growth with a razorblade... at first I just pinched it, but it didnt all come off, still looked like it had a stem there, I razorbladed that off into a 'cup shape.

Found instructions on another site, saying to just cut part of the new growth off with scissors, would that be a better option for my indoor plant, as I dont want to stress it out much.
Im pretty sure I just REALLY pissed off my outdoor strain, by taking a blade to it and screwing up :( thats why I didnt do it with my last plant lol...anyways, so , the newest set of small leaves, just cut off about 80% that new incoming leaf growth on the top?

just take some snips and clip the top growth. you can do it today. You can start to LST once you get the new shoots. You may get some of the lower branches taking off too, so tie those down. It'll take a few days for it to start going strong again, but it's fine. I have no problems topping and super cropping and LSTing all at the same time... You'll know when they are ready for more,or for a rest.

yeah...that growing tip is practically indestructable..it has amazing regenerative powers. I just pinch mine off.
 
Attempted topping the indoor plant today

I tried to zoom/clear it up a little, but didnt do much, I just took finger nail clippers, cleaned them with alcohol, rinsed em off , clipped about 70-85% of the newest growth, I think I did it right (hope so)
Plant is starting to grow quite quickly, Im wondering if this would be the time to start some LST (tying down the branched) and maybe some super cropping, I waited to supercrop about two months in on my last grow, as branches were still pretty weak (wouldn't doubt thats due to CFLs)

My outdoor plant , well, i found out what was wrong, those little yellow spots were bugs sucking from the bottom of the leaf, Ive been careful not to transfer any of these to my indoor plants, though, god only knows. I sprayed the plant with cooking oil/water, as I read that the bugs breath through their skin and when sprayed with oil, they lose their ability to breath. not sure if this is entirely true, just figured Id give it a shot, as , not much else can really go wrong with that outdoor plant(edit-there were black dots on the bottom of the leaves, not sure if those are eggs, or marks from where the bugs were ...well I guess eating or sucking the plant?)
 
use some safer soap....be very careful not to transfer any of them indoors.....some bugs, you just can't get rid of without geting rid of the plants too.....I've had to start over again from scratch a couple of times because of insects....once, it was because of white fly...they are next to impossible to get rid of...the secound time was aphids...

Be careful where you buy your potting soil from...most of the time, that is how the bugs get in your plants...they come with the soil ...

Good luck with getting rid of those. You'll want to do some intensive research if you're determined to keep the plant and get rid of the bugs, the infirmary at icmag.com has great advice for bugs, but unfortunately, no quick fix.
You can start tying down the plants whenever you want. Don't stress too much over their physical shape, or little things. You can basically LST or top or supercrop or any other stress training anytime. It's limited by schedule and timing, which you already have an idea of from your last grow. It's the bugs that need your attention and care right now, if you plan on keeping that plant.

From appearance, they seem to be gone after yesterday (only about 4-10 there anyway)


I have not brought them, or transfered any indoors.
Trust me, i make sure I wash my hands, usually take a shower aswell, before I deal with my indoor plant after working outdoors.

And with the condition the outdoor plant is in, I really dont care if it lives or dies anyways, its doing very poorly, it has 4 shade leaves, I believe its growth has been stunted.
so, Dont really care much for it....

Indoor is doing fine.

An easy thing you can do, is make a habit of taking off your shoes if you have recently been outside. Also, if you have a 30x magnifying glass you can get a look at how bad your bug problem ACTUALLY is, as well as properly identifying the bug type. You'll want a 30x down the road when you harvest anyway (viewing the trichome maturity).


Once you have spotted a bug problem, you can expect more. You might want to see if your oil technique is a good idea in the long run...i'd imagine it would create too much moisture for mature plants, but it might work for the younger ones as you are suggesting. anyway, don't overlook this problem.
 
Those two should work.

You can use your 10x to view the plants for bugs and use the microscope for the trichome production during flower.
 
Just a bit curious, I had a spring tails showing up in the bathroom (they've always been there, can't get rid of the damn thing...
I know they feed on fungus, I fully inspected my indoor plant after showing today, couldn't find one bug on the bottoms of the leaves, or any markings either.
Would springtails be a threat to marijuana ? as when it flowers, it produces a fungi right?

Started nuting about 3-5 days ago, using some 5-1-1, Organic Fish something or other. smells pretty bad, but the bottle says "deodorized" haha.
Anywho, Indoor is looking well and healthy, outdoor, well, its .... alive, starting to push out some branches on bottom, not sure what its supposed to look like after topping I mean, I saw the pics, but, how do I know I did it right, what will the new growth look like?

I was looking at the area I had topped, and it looks like its starting new leaves, in the same area they would have come out if they weren't topped, Is it supposed to do this?

Also, was looking at pics of spider mites, I dont think thats what they were( though i could very well be wrong) , but the damage didn't look quite the same to me, and there were only about 4-10 actual bugs that I could see with the naked eye. Now, I may be wrong because it wasnt completely infested, but the damage caused didn't look like spider mite damage, there are small, yellow spots, where I believe the bug was on the bottom of the plant doing something, who know what.

I went back to check today, no signs of bugs today, but would spider mights cause small problems like that?
Ive also noticed, on one leaf, there is a black spot, I have NO clue what it is, but its a tiny black circle, maybe 1mm in length.
And theres a few black spots on the bottom of the leaf...
Dont know what else to say about it, just glad it didnt reach my indoor, and I hope spring tails dont pose as a threat
 
you're always going to have to battle the insects with an outdoor grow....I saw bugs I had never seen before when I put a few plants in my backyard..big, gnarly assed bugs...they wanted my herb...I squirted them with some shit and killed them...

Temp problems are as good as their going to get, If you've been reading any of the recent thread my temp has been 82-87 as of late.
Which, from various other opinions should be fine for vegging.




As for topping my indoor, what am I looking for when it comes to new growth, I think I may have messed up.Prob Fimmed it, but anyways, Ill describe how it looks, where I cut the newest growth when topping, i took off about 75-80% of the growth in that spot with finger nail clippers.
it's been 2-3 days , the plant is starting to push out what looks like leaves, Im not sure about branches , or colas, but theres 4 areas in which there is new , small leaves growing, not sure if I fimmed it, topped it , or completely fucked up and the plants growing like it normally should (which, kinda looks to be the case)
 
you should've cut off the entire top node.... right at the stem..if you just fimmed the leaves, you're not really topping it... when you top it, you'll see two new stems develope where there was only one before..
