Remember in the beginning of "The Empire Strikes B
It is for me, anyways.
Being this tall and big
makes you stick out
wherever you go,
so you have to meet people
or get used to being alone.
Us tall and big people
get a bad rap as being
"intense"
So I meet new people,
I say "hi" and ask about themselves.
I joke around and get them comfortable.
Some are shy,
some are not,
but most are willing to give a little,
in order to get a little back.
So I hit it off with the crowd,
start to feel comfortable,
but I can't.
'Cause I still,
no matter how hard I try,
compare everyone to you.
I try not to,
because it's not fair,
to others and myself.
But sometimes,
I can't help it.
Sure, they may be attractive,
but I know they won't have
the same qualities.
I remember you telling me that once.
Their style in music,
clothes,
books,
tv,
films,
hobbies,
life goals,
are always lacking.
Some people say that meeting people is hard,
but losing them is harder.
d...a

'Cause I still,
no matter how hard I try,
compare everyone to you.
i do that too. but the thing is, i compare everyone to a guy that did nothing but hurt me, and even though now i can't think of one good quality that he has, i still let all these wonderful people pale in comparison to him.
i think its in our nature as humans to do that. you get it stuck in your heart that this one person is perfect in every way, even if they are far from it, and you let them always shine brighter than everyone else, even long after they are gone.
you're right.. meeting people is easy, for forgetting them, getting over them, can feel impossible. And i only agree partially with Noodle... i dont think time heals.. i think time just allows us to forget a little, and let go a little, and realize the truth more clearly... but i dont think it can completely heal some things. any scar that is deep enough will heal almost completely over the years... but if you look close enough, you can probably still see it. scars are just that... lasting. even with the best antibiotic creams and plastic surgeries.
