This demented concept of capitalism is doing nothing but poisoning the society we live in, which presently, increasingly feels like a part-time, on demand democracy. And sadly it's affecting everyone in different ways which usually contributes to a life filled with a lot more issues rather than results. The video - thanks to a recording by a brave soul whom I respect which everyone should hear - shows how it affects law enforcement in NY as well as the innocent victims of this (some would say) violation of human rights and it's bloody outrageous that this continues today. And I'm sorry if I come across as biased, but I blame republicans for the way this system works moreso than democrats.
These fat, lazy, stubborn, ignorant, greedy, corrupt (etc.) pencil pushers - who, in essence are playing a big one-sided game of chess with our lives and quality of life, and also whom I consider part of 'the 1%' - are the ones who ultimately decide whether a bill is passed into law, whether a war on <whatever/whoever> is started or ended, whether funding to any given public service should be increased or cut, whether the next big money making drug is approved, and whether to make the aforementioned information (among other things) privileged or public.
Numbers game every time. The higher the number, the better. That mentality needs to change because it's slowly but surely tearing apart anything and everything important in facilitating a well functioning democratic society. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening with the second agenda-minded politicians in power today deciding what's right and wrong.
