First off, I know there are TONS of threads relating to this topic, and very similiar, and I assure you I have read probably 75% of them from start to finish.
However, this thread is basically asking , what is currently in your stash box for opiate detox. I always add to it whenever I find something to contribute, and in the past month this is what I've managed to scavage together.
Tomorrow is my first day of detox from 240mg oxy/day for 7 days , and a previous opiate tolerance before that. With this kit, I really do expect very minimal w/d symptoms.
So, just curious what everyone else uses to assist them during withdrawals...
Personally, over the years I have created a nice stash box that I use for whenever I decide to go through withdrawals. Tomorrow will be my last day on oxycontin, and this is what I have stashed:
Herbs and Supplements:
kava kava(helps with anxiety)
melatonin ( aids with sleep)
sleep tincture (bought at the local health food store, and has several herbs in it, including valerian root, skullcap, and hops)
Whey Protein shakes (has all amino acids in it, and keeps me from losing weight since I cant eat too much)
Multi-vitamin and mineral (important due to loss of vitamins and minerals, and poor diet during opiate usage and w/d)
Chomper and Herbal Formula (Part of a natural detoxification program that I have, around 30 herbs that are in capsule form taken 3-4 times a day - GREATLY helps restore the digestive tract, and regulate bowel movements)
Fish Oil (Have omega fatty acids in it, very important during detox)
Kratom: Works wonders for tapering, and that is exactly what I use it for.
Prescription Meds:
(Disclaimer: I am in NO ONE condoning using prescription meds without a prescription - and most of the meds can easily be acquired if you talk to a doctor. Again - TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR AND GET A PRESCRIPTION)
Klonopin(Clonazepam): a benzo that works great during days 1-5, especially during the day. I find klonopin is the best benzo to take during the day when detoxing because I can still function, I'm not too zoned out or sleepy, and it gets rid of RLS and restlessness so I can function.
Xanax: the best benzo for night during detox, IMO. 1-4mg knocks me out within 30-40 minutes at the latest, allowing me to get some sleep, no matter how bad the w/d is. Also helps get rid of RLS at night.
Neurontin (Gabapentin): A med used for nerve pain, it is not an opiate and works wonders for RLS. It works on the GABA in your brain - and it helps with depression, anxiety, and RLS. Not the MOST helpful med during w/d, but surely it does its part.
Prescription Sleeping meds (Lunesta, Ambien, Trazadone): All of these work WONDERS because as anyone who has had severe W/D knows, sleep is next to impossible. Usually a VERY SMALL amount of a benzo (xanax) combined with ONE tablet of ONE of these at night will give me 4-5 hours of decent sleep each night, even during days 3 and 4 (the worst)
Suboxone: The MOST useful med during w/d. It is an opiate antagonist, and gets rid of all withdrawals. If taken properly, and during days 2, 3, 4, and 5....you will avoid most withdrawal symptoms, and after day 5 when you quit suboxone, you will be mostly back to normal, especially with the help of the rest of the meds.
So, what do you guys have stashed away for withdrawals? What do you guys use.....anything from supplements to meds. Share!
Some others I have used in the past, but don't currently have are: Darvocet (for tapering, works better than kratom IMO), Soma (for relaxing the tension , its a muscle relaxer and works wonders during detox), and Clonidine
Let me know what you guys think
