Meds for Bad LSD Trips?

Taking benzos during a psychedelic trip can save your life. A narcotics agent who raided an LSD lab accidentally ingested a massive overdose of LSD (he had small cuts on his face from shaving, and he ingested airborn LSD through them), the doctors thought the best thing to do would be to just put him in a dark room and let him ride out the trip. He was having seizures and nearly died. A nurse made the call that what he needed was "a ton of IV diazepam" and supposedly that saved his life. I saw that in a documentary on LSD, I can't remember what it was called.


If you're gonna use drugs to counteract psychedelic trips, you need to know the pharmacology involved. Salvinorin A is a kappa opioid agonist so it has a completely different mechanism of action to serotonergic psychedelic like psilocybin or LSD. I saw a youtube video of a guy on antipsychotics doing salvia and he appeared to have a bad experience. He was freaking out. I don't know of any easily available kappa opioid antagonists for ending bad salvia trips.

Yeah right LSD caused seizures. That story is from drugs inc the hallucinogens episode and is no way true whatsoever. For one one thing he claims he was exposed to "1000's" of doses, but this number is made up out of thin air. Cop may have had a little trip he didnt almost die, hospitals know how to treat bad trips and have known since the 60's. This cops story took place in the 80s, in california, come on the hospital knew how treat a bad trip. If you believe someone almost died from a bad trip you are a fool. I am sure his disability payments make his story well worth while to retell.
No one dies from bad trips. Half they time they turn around anway, ride that shit out and learn something.

bad trips seem to occur in those who need to look at themselves and do some reflecting. I have personally never had a bad trip and I've personally tripped around 300 times.

^ thats what i like to hear, because i havnt had something something id consider a bad trip before, and intend on doing everything in my power to not have one ever. now im not very experienced, can count the number of trips ive had on my fingers and toes, but that is still a pretty good batting average if you ask me.
