The House of Representatives voted late Wednesday night to legalize marijuana for medical purposes for adults — despite a letter from the state's top federal prosecutor saying that those growing marijuana would be violating federal law.

The vote was 96-51 in favor.

The bill prevents all prison inmates and anyone younger than 18 from obtaining medical marijuana to relieve their pain, regardless of the extent of their illness.

Similar bill passed house and senate a few years back and Gov. Rell voted it down. Im sure it will pass through the senate again and Gov. Malloy will certainly sign this... a small step, but a step nonetheless.

a great step none the less
I'm hoping New Hampshire follows suit soon - We've had a similar situation, Bill passes just shy of the mark to block a veto - then the Gov. promptly vetoes it.

I know how it would be VERY unpopular with public to give it to inmates, but should not youth be given equal access to medical care?

wtf.

If they have a proper medical condition than why not medical weed, you can even get some that doesn't even get you high and is full of marijuana cannabinoids that will help you with many issues.

Yes, kind of my point. The blurb says the law prohibits persons under 18 from legally obtaining medical cannabis. Why? Should it not be up to a professional and the person/their guardian if a 'legalized' treatment is appropriate or not?

baby steps my man you gotta give a break them in before they accept such a new concept on an education from DARE world view on life.

er, SCHII substances like amphetamine and fentanyl are readily obtained on valid RX for a minor, why should this be treated different? DARE? DARE is pretty against all the other drugs too.
