This is to anyone from CO, (or anyone that knows about colorado law...)

So I may be moving to CO in a month. I'm curious, what's the deal with the medical marijuana there? I know in california they'd just about hand out a card to anyone for almost any reason and you can go pick up at one of many many dispensaries in the state. I don't assume that would be the case in colorado though. Is it just a "grow your own" sort of state or are there dispensaries around? Also what are the rules for it and such (what makes one eligible to get it, what kinds of doctors have the authority, what are the carry laws like etc.)

Any real info that anyone has would be awesome. Thanks

I dont know about Medical MJ in Colorado

but i do have a handful of friends there and say weed is super easy to find whether you're in rural CO or urban CO, good quality

as far as weed goes u got nothin to worry bout CO is a good weed state IMO from what i know/heard

A friend of mine is in CO and he has a med card and he got it for a medical condition and got his med card directly from a doctor, but he said how he knows people who got it for whatever reason like you wrote about people in CA getting them.

He said that there are dispensaries in CO that have clones, and how if you have a card you can grow a small number of plants.

Yes, it's not too difficult to get a card in CO. You probably want to get all previous medical history papers to speed the process up (there are many reasons to list for medical marijuana just read up on them). Pick up a copy of the Westword (or just go to website) to find a cannabis doctor....there are a ton of them.

The laws and rules change almost on a monthly basis here in Denver. Just a month ago we had a cannabis food restaurant type of place that was great, but they shut it down.....so things change for the better and worse pretty quick around here. The dispensaries are stable at this point though.

you can get medical MJ prescribed for many things in colorado, and the dispenseries just require you to show a card. also I believe you can grow up to 3 plants, and your caretaker (one of your pals...i resisted the urge to say "buds") can grow 3 also, but can't buy from the dispensary. in denver MJ is pretty much decriminalized for anything less than an ounce, i believe...but I could be wrong, since I didn't smoke when I lived there, so I didnt keep up on the laws that much.

The more I read up about, it sounds like they only give it for people with very serious conditions such as cancer and MS? Is that just an old article or something? I haven't been much luck googling anything of substance. I suppose I can just talk to someone about it when I get out there.

i doubt it is gonna be as easy as it is in Cali

Cali is notorious for liberal Med MJ laws

they continually try to get Med Mj here in TX and one of the selling/advertising points is always that it doesnt have to be like Cali and that other "law abiding- god fearing" states have passed rational Med MJ laws

I'm in CO and let me tell you, if assholes keep fucking with the medicinal MJ system like they are now, it wont last long. First, a medical mj card is not a get out of jail free card. Under an OZ is a ticket, but it is the officer you deal with who has the decision as to if you get a ticket or not. Second, to any idiot in CO reading this: STOP FUCKING FORGING MEDICINAL MJ CARDS!!! There has been quite a bit of this recently and dispensarys are really cracking down because of it. Its their ass on the line too. This is the exact kind of shit that will ruin the recent progress in more lenient marijuana laws. Third: STOP ROBBING DISPENSARYS. If things stay on this path, I give it 2 years max before it is recriminalized...
