Currently I'm enrolled in an IOP program which will be taking up a considerable amount of my time during the week and interferes with a couple important classes. Both me and my family feel the IOP is the most important thing for me at the moment so we're considering a medical leave from my current semester at the university.

My question is, considering how far into the semester it is (probably 65% through) will insurance cover any of it? Or will we have to find another loan?

Has anyone been in this situation?

Moreover, does anyone have experience paying off a large amount of debt from college loans etc.? How did you get through it? It all seems stressful as hell right now.

Thanks for any input.

In regards to paying off student loan debt its best to either getting a job and then making your payments or being in close touch with the org. that gave you the loan as to why you can't pay as of yet. Usually you can apply to not pay for a time while looking for a job. But make minimum payments as soon as you can and if you can pay more into them do so. It goes towards your credit rating which is good to keep as a high number. It basically means living like a student for quite some time and using your disposable income to pay your loans down. It sucks but that's why you went to school. To make salary and not wage.

I'm assuming IOP is intensive outpatient, or no? Are you planning on going back to school after? I think if you can get a doc to sign off on a medical leave student loans shouldn't be a problem if you are planning on returning to school. The school might take into consideration your medical leave and that may be something to look into.
