meat

I decided that I'm going to eat meat again. It's been over 14 years now. I've been anemic most of that time even though I do take iron supplements. I think mixing some meat into my diet could help strengthen my energy level which I think would do wonders for my mind.

I gave up meat mainly because I just didn't like the taste of it. That was when I was 14 though, I know some of my other tastes have changed since then. I just don't know how to re-introduce meat into my diet. About 6 years ago I took one bite out of a roast beef sandwich and got super sick. My digestive system isn't used to meat. I'm going to have to research it some and see what other people have done, so I won't get horribly sick.

I assume you are talking fowl. Do you already eat fish?

Don't bother with eating red meat. It increases the risk of malignant tumors. Eating red meat causes the build up of the molecule N-glycolylneuraminic acid. The immune system sees it as an invader and releases antibodies, causing inflammation. When mice were injected with tumor cells, their inflammation sped the cells growth and the antibodies actually feed the tumor. (study author Ajit Varki)

Don't start with red meat. Maybe start with fish, and maybe throw in a bit of chicken every now and then.

But really, you could also try to fix it with veggies. Are you getting lots of dark green leafy vegetables? Those are loaded with iron.

I do eat seafood occasionally already, but usually just sushi.

I was thinking of just throwing in chicken or pork, I just don't want to get sick when I do eat it. I'm guessing it would be a lot easier on my stomach than red meat.

To be honest, a big reason why I want to start again is to see if I like it because it's been so long. I'm guessing I probably wouldn't eat much meat still just because I've become so accustomed to my diet now.

fish and chicken are the best! i am slowly weaning myself off red meat (hehe...gluttonous omnivore that I am...) and I feel so so much better too.

Start really slow with bites of chicken.
Then in time you can have nice wonder medium rare steak. It is my favorite food and tastes so good.

When I was a vegetarian I wasn't very energetic. I noticed a huge difference when I ate meat again, and I have some scary memories of driving home after work and almost nodding off behind the wheel.
