Hi I am looking to meaure 5 mg of amt to use as an ADHD drug. I have got scaes that measure as low as 1mg but they son't seem to measure this low i.e when I put little bit on, nothing happens and other times it shoots up to 20mg. I believe you need scales as sensitive as 0.0001g, which are really expensive, but I might have to resort to buying these. There is liquid measurement. I could measure 20 mg of amt. Am I right in saying if I put this in 20 ml of water then 5 ml would = 5mg of amt? Also how do I dissolve it in water or another liquid and preserve it for 4 days or longer in that liquid? Could someone tell me the things I would need, I am new to this thanks.

You could also dilute your powder with another powder.
This is probably better in terms of preservation, provided you use a suitable powder.
You should add equal volumes of powder, mix thoroughly for at least 5 minutes, then add another equal volume, etc.
The rest is self-explanatory. :)

I don't understand. Please give me a step by step way of measuring 5 mg stating what equipment is needed. Do I just take amt in water? For an allergy test I tied putting 5 mg of amt in 750 ml of water, and took a little sip but I realise now it probably didn't dissolve. I may have taken more or less than what I intended. Do I need white vinegar? Please spell it out to me slowly. I am really new to this. Thanks. :)

Weigh off an amount of AMT (1 gram)
Weigh off an amount of a suitable powder (7 gram; powder A)
Combine 1 gram of AMT with approximately 1 gram of powder A.
Mix thoroughly for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add appr. 2 grams of powder A to the mixture of AMT/powder A.
Mix thoroughly for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add the rest of powder A to the mixture.
Mix thorougly for 5 to 10 minutes.

You need no water or vinegar, just patience and the skills to mix two powders without fucking up your desk... ;)

My first suggestion would be NaCl (ordinary salt), KCl (salt for people on a sodium restricted diet) or vitamine C powder.
If you do it like the example above, you would dilute your powder 8 times.
This means that if you weigh off 40 mg of your mixture, it will contain 5 mg of AMT.
But you need to mix it very, very well since mixing powders requires a lot more effort than mixing with solvents.
Also try to use a powder with a comparable particle size, if you use salt in large crystals your mixture will dissipate; the larger particles (probably NaCl/KCl) will 'float' on the smaller AMT particles.

Ok thanks, I really appreciate it. I've never heard of this before. So I just mix it with a fork on my desk and swallow the powder? If anyone can verify the best powder to use that woud be great. If not I'll give salt a try.
