MDMA odor...

usually when i test pills with my marquis agent and then with my body, i find that the ones that are the strongest have a noticably sweet unique smell...until today...i tested a pill with that oh so familiar odor and it was bogus...anyone know what that typical odor is, chemically?
 
safrole usually, which is not the smell of MDMA, but a compound used in the production of MDMA.. Sometimes pill pressers will put a tiny amount into the pill mix to make it smell more authentic, or so I have been told.
 
In my limited experience, at least with taste, MDA is more likely to taste "sweeter" than MDMA. This could be because it is easier to have unreacted saffrole with MDA (easier to be sloppy with synth) than with MDMA.

I might be wrong though.
 
I've smelled a lot of the various chemicals involved in the process, and I don't really think MDMA or MDA smell much of anything like them at all really.

You shouldn't have safrole in the reaction mix that far along anyway. If you did, it would probably all be so fucked up I don't know if it would work real well.
 
Yeah, but there are a whole load of 3,4-methylenedioxy compounds that all have similar type smells. 1-(3,4-methylenedioxy)-2-bromopropane smells of sasparilla much more strongly than safrole, and it's an intermediate compound that's only one step away from MDMA using one particular synthesis route (it's horrible stuff - get a drop on your hand, and you'll smell sasparilla for 2 weeks; it's OK for a couple of days, then it just becomes a pain)
 
to me all good mdma pills have had a distinct taste to them. i don't mean that bitter taste but it's something else. i can't even describe it. i've never noticed a smell before tho
 
Oh I don't know.... at the height of my *luv* affair with MD** compounds, I did as Shulgin suggested. i.e. mix in a glass of water and drink slowly - to savour the taste. Being more homeopathically tuned these days, just recalling that taste produces a certain euphoria ;)
 
I like the taste of MDMA too. And psychedelic phenethylamines. They're kind of nauseating, but just knowing what is causing the bitter taste in my mouth makes it a pleasant taste.
 
Yeah I've chewed Adderall XR beads before and swallowed it. That tasted odd. I have noticed too that with some psychoactives a half hour after ingesting them you can sort of smell them. I described it once when I was tripping as something like a fabric softener or some other clothes powder used in cleaning. That was for foxy methoxy. It was almost a suffocation too but not at the same time. 2C-B was similar to that as well. Anyone ever have this happen with the smells or the feeling of your nose or nasal passages being blocked with powder? How bitter is chewing a Xanax too! Yuck! It gets in there good too and you can't get it out of your mouth for a while down to your throat. I once downed some nutmeg (huge mistake I hated it) without water or anything but two drops of breath spray to wash it down once. Nasty man.
 
^^ I know people who when they read pill reports they can recall certain tastes.
