MDMA more of a 'kids' drug?

Many probably lose the magic and move on to other substances

Of course some lose the magic. Some stop for health reasons. Some simply re-evaluate the risk/benefit ratio.

Your body's ability to produce serotonin drops by about 5 percent per decade. So by the age of 90, you are working at about half capacity. Considering MDMA is much more toxic than LSD, it would not be recommend in the elderly population.

I imagine that many older users like to proclaim that there are plenty like them around. Even if they personally know plenty of examples, the fact is that rate of use will decline with age. I am prepared to believe that plenty of people still have the drive/ability well into their 40s. Beyond this age, most people feel quite different about their bodies in general. If you exercise and maintain a healthy diet/lifestyle, you can likely extend your range.

Just remember - cognitive decline is going happen to all of us, some more than others. Alzheimer's disease is the killer of 25% of elderly people. New criteria and imaging techniques have doubled the number of people diagnosed as living with the disease. If HALF of us that make it to our older years are destined to be confronted with this type of decline, it may be unwise to use psychedelic drugs throughout our lives. Bringing up an exception like Albert Hoffman does not change the cold fact that MOST of us will never live to be 102 like him.

Scientists are still watching and waiting to see if the extensive use of MDMA in the last 3 decades is going to increase the occurrence of cognitive decline and health problems as our generation ages. Just because some users are still capable in their late 40s does NOT mean that teens and young adults on Bluelight should keep rolling every weekend. Use common sense and space your rolls.

old skool hard hat here. I think I even beat Bearlove in maturity. Selective definitions of maturity apply though =D

Age is merely a description of experience, not a restriction. I know plenty of 20 somethings that have given up chasing the sun.

Moderation is key to everything, in particular for continued drug use. It's been my mantra for over half a century (ouch), and still I know how to party.

Greetings DJ!

I think it depends on your health, mental state. Ofcourse young people experiment more

I find All ages can enjoy mdma recreationally. Theres old people & young people having a blast on mdma at events.
It all just depends on the person imo.

Ive recently met some old farts like myself who party the same way so i am relieved, my friend circle was being infultrated by 18-19 year olds due to the majority of mdma users being that age. But there are a few older people with a passion for the drug.

Well I'm closer to 50 than 40. I still take the odd concoction now and then, certainly not as often as when I was younger as I didn't have as many responsibilities. Over time I have narrowed my choice of drugs to pretty much psychedelics; I don't use meth or even marijuana. MDMA is definitely the DOC for me, if I can get my hands on it I prefer to use it at home although doofs are not out of the question even at my age (I enjoy electronic music a lot). For me LSD and the 2c family is also enjoyable and due to the Aussie mdma drought have been the main part of my drug taking in the last few years.

I have quite a few friends my age who also enjoy illegal drugs so I do not think that it is for just the younger age group. The younger brigade are more outgoing and use drugs in that setting and hence feature in the media when something goes wrong or they get busted. Us older folk tend to keep it private, know our limits and as such tend not to get busted as often.

This thread is so funny. I remember feeling that way when I was a "kid" and I kind of agree now that I'm older. Funny when you get older you will find pleasure from things other than partying. However, my circle of friends still know how to do it up every once in a while. The one thing we don't do anymore is go to places that aren't 21 +. We completely understand that we used to act that way but now that we're all parents it makes us uncomfortable thinking about what their parents would think if they saw them like that.

I have very few surviving friends from my teens. It's a sad fact that most drop by the wayside of drug use and loose interest as they get older, or they stop for health reasons, whilst others are just selfish and simply die! Most of my current circle are in their 30's, even my wife :) But I'm hoping that I can find some old survivors now I've found (belatedly) the psytrance scene.

Good to see you about nomy.
Sign in to messenger when you can, i'm in the studio more frequently again now and have a bit of time for us to rock out!

So sorry I've been away mate. I picked up a nasty virus and had to reinstall everything. Took 3 days just to install my studio setup...over 100gb of soft synths samples to install! Will get msn installed and set up soon bro :) Hope things are better for you over in Japan.

Not many people ever get tired of molly ime, most of 'em just don't get that many opportunities score once they've grown out of the club scene.

Another thing: When your idea of a nice friday evening evolves from dancing all night while beeing as wasted as possible to having dinner with friends, you'll get the odd bottle of wine for your hospitality or may bring some dessert. Sharing a bunch of sketchy pills might seem inappropriate in this setting, even if nobody minds eating some of them instead of getting drunk. It's a social phenomenon, not about a sudden dislike of the drugs effect profile.

I love all the banter... very fun stuff!

DJ 303 - I missed your 'tongue-in-cheek' at first, but got it later... thanks for the clarification. Not that I'm a little freaked out that I'm almost 40 or anything... LOL I know better now to read with lightheartedness. :)

I didn't take a drug till 38 years old. Hadn't inhaled smoke of any kind, from any source till 38. I am single, have no kids, and am ready to experience a little bit of many things I missed out on during my younger years. But, as some have eloquently expressed.... this has been / will be done with balance, moderation and some sense!!!

Old, young or in-between.... go forth and have the fun you want, how you want... enrich your life. Do it as safely and responsibly as possible in a way that doesn't harm others.

@sm7125....for someone who has missed out on the earthly enlightenment of the drug kind, you are remarkably in tune. Follow your own guidelines my friend, and there will be riches indeed :)

wouldnt really consider it a kiddie drug, its a potentially very powerful stimulant. not a good thing to put in your system while your body is developing. but as far as the varying usage from teen to adult, id say but teens do it. and i dont necessarily mean 13-20, im saying from that and 20-30. the 'young' person. not very popular with adults at all.

@Nomy: Thanks! I tell my friends I am being "responsibly irresponsible". :)
It can be a challenge to get myself MDMA because I do tons of research, insist on testing pills and won't buy anything that's reportedly bunk, per pillreports.com. I'm amazed at how many people don't even know about these sites, and take whatever's given them. When people offer some, I get into 20 questions mode... until they're like, "do you want these or not"... usually by then I have enough information to make a good decision to buy or not. Then I get to test.

Here's my thing: Sure... it may not be the healthiest thing in the world, but neither is eating a Hot Pocket... you ever see what crap is in those things? But those are legal, and not nearly as much fun. So... if I'm going to do it, I'm going to be smart about it and keep my wits about me. (Of course, that is until I'm rolling balls and got the eye wiggles... then who really gives a shit? ha ha ha) It's ALL good in moderation (and as DJ 303 said, "including moderation").

Peace!!!

nice posting mate.
Good to have you around.
A valuable asset to bluelight.

Well my story is this......

I popped my first bean when I was just 15, in fact 15 by only a few hours.
I'll never forget that night.
Green Euro's, they were stunning, and I ended up doing 2 and a half and losing my virginity to a gorgeous girl I'd loved for years.

It opened my eyes to the incredible fortuity of simply existing, and the striking beauty of the nature of the universe.

I realised then in those moments of clarity and euphoria how much I had taken everything for granted with the onset of adolescence, and how gloriously complex and wonderful the nature of life is that infintely surrounds us.

That positive and refreshing view of the world stuck with me, it changed my life.
Suddenly I wanted to read, to learn about everything, to welcome all experience with curiosity, and to understand in depth the nature of the human mind.

I grew up.
In one night, over one weekend.

I found the other kids at school underdeveloped, immature and infantile.

I became fascinated in human behaviour and sociology/anthropology.

I realised the futility of violence, war and aggression, the manipulative nature of the media, and the false hopes and happiness that is the material capitalist system of consumerism.
How we are blinkered and fed propaganda, deluded into believing in the illusion of "freedom", kept dumb by the disenfranchised masses, media-fed and led to believe that your clothes or shoes or car "defines" you as an individual and will give you lasting happiness and status.

When it's all just one big distraction.

One big disguise to prevent us from feeling this good. Preventing us from coming together away from the "taxable" and "profitable" controlled "fun" that is your average inner city trendy bar.

How dangerous would it be for the corporate machine if we all began listening to music that was truly underground and against the popular music industry, consuming substances on the blackmarket at no profit to the man, attending free rave parties away from revenue generating nightclubs, unpredictable and unmonitored individuals realising that they have found something better, that they don't need the 9 to 5 gold-plated daily grind and the matching tea-set, they have tasted freedom, they group and mass together unpoliced and unprovoked with dangerous anti-establishmental theologies, a contempt for the pursuit of meaningless monetary wealth, a sudden understanding of the nature of it all, and therefore a threat to national security?

I continued to pop pills almost every weekend or at least every other weekend until I was 18/19 years old.

I pursued the dance music scene, the rave industry, the early 1990s acid techno free-party collective, travelling around Europe in old buses and trucks, carting soundsytems, living off the grid, rent-free, learning to DJ, doing gigs, meeting other like-minded individuals with fascinating stories to share, and dancing dancing dancing the days away free, poor, and happy.

Eventually I chilled out on the beans long enough to gain some qualifications of use in the music industry.
I built skills in sound engineering, gained experience of promotion and organisation, and passed with distinction as a percussion teacher.
I eventually got bookings, released tracks, and set up my own label.
I booked international artists and they booked me back.

That all began decades ago.
I'm still living the dream.
Sure I'm married now,
years on from that first pill,
but I'm still Partying, producing, and performing.
In pursuit of lasting fulfillment and happiness through experience, knowledge, wisdom, love, freedom, friendship, achievement, self-improvement, dance and the occasional drug induced euphoria.

Still pursuing the ever-evolving dance music scene,
Still relatively poor in terms of financial wealth,
But in terms of experience and achievement,
I'm the richest motherfucker I know.

I'll never forget my 15th birthday.
It's been a world of wonder since then......
