What do you think? Is MDMA mainly used by young people, say in their 20's or is it pretty well used by all ages?

Thoughts? Experiences? Observations?

probably more for the people in the "scene" late teens - mid 20's. but i know people that do it that are a variety ages. a lot of older ppl like it once in a while. i personally dont think anyone under 18 should try it though

i know plenty of older people that take Ecstacy.

the ratio of Users;Abusers seems to get lower the older people get.

most of the older users i know take it once every blue moon. where as most of the younger lot do it every weekend

From what I've noticed, most of the older people who use MDMA are the ones who were around and using it before it became illegal. I know pwople in a lot of different age groups who use MDMA, a majority of them are in there teens or 20's though.

I think its used by all ages - we simply associate MDMA use with young clubbers / ravers. I belong to the crowd that started raving years ago and I have no intention of stopping my use any time soon.

MDMA is used by a large spectrum of ages - the ones you hear about are normally the ravers / clubbers!

Maybe because ecstasy use that is continued into your later ages eventually catches up with you. Depending on how often you do it, you will realize that at some point it is best for your health to stop before you become a parent. There's many other drugs that which chronic use can be less "harmful" to your body, and I believe those are the ones that are more commonly continued into later ages. Such as weed and cocaine.

I used to roll 2-4 times a week. If I did that now I wouldn't be a good parent in my eyes. I'm more worried about more important things in my life now than getting fucked up (job, kid). Not that I don't from time to time, but when you're younger and have a lot less responsibility you don't mind getting fucked up everyday. Hey, some people still don't when they get older but I decided to grow up a bit I guess ><

Like everyon elses response: Teens and young adults

I think a 40 year old would have a heart attack if they took MDMA haha

Not really. Albert Hoffman dropped LSD when he was 90 something and he was doing fine. Drugs are for people of all ages (although it might be a good idea to start doing then you are 16+). I think many peoples interests start to change as they grow older so they are less likely to use drugs.

Id have to disagree with that statement.

Here in the UK, my generation grew up with MDMA.

Agreed, many settle down and marry, but theres still quite alot of people that may dabble now and then.

Most of my younger friends choices of drugs are in fact different to mine, so in my own circumstances, id say this is the complete opposite of what you are saying, but we all have different tastes and things we like.

my parents are both 45 (I am 24), and they still like to rage now and then. honestly, if it wasn't for them, i doubt i would have ever used mdma.

If you haven't read this yet you should.
It is very well written and insightful.
It is entitled "confessions of a middle-aged ecstacy eater".

perhaps it may help to dispel this misconception that us old folks are inexperienced and fragile.
I tell this to all you young scallywags who think 40 years old out of touch and over the hill.
I was there. At the birth of the U.K techno/acid house/electronic music scene.
The free party english rave culture is where it all began. late eighties early ninetees, squat partying, politically active, chemically experimental pioneers of the digital revolution, which ultimately gave birth to all you little parties and sub-genres.

Still 20 years on, I run my own record label, DJ across Europe and Asia, and rock parties that go on for days on end.

For all you nippers who think us veterans are about to keel over and die of a heart attack, you couldn't be further from the truth.
You wee scallywags wouldn't know what hit you if you attempted to keep up! know your place! We are the battle hardened folks who fought for the right to party, whilst you were still drooling and shitting your pants.

While I don't approve age discrimination with regards to drug use, I think you're just going to the other extreme. There are all kinds of "young" MDMA users, some are truly open minded, some not so much...

The need to have a good time doesn't go away when a person ages. We set aside doing things that leave us wasted for a full weekend, like E and its hangover will, when we are raising kids. That's the responsible thing to do. But doing that doesn't mean we still don't want to have fun. The post above from the parent of young kids has it about right.

Having been there at the beginning, as in LSD in the 60s, I stopped all strong drugs while my kids, now in their 30s, endured growing up in the DARE culture of their times. Why make a kid lie about their parents at school? But once they were off to college, out of the house, my wife and I could resume seeking fun through pharmeceuticals, and found E and its benefits about the mid-90s, enjoying it about 4x a year ever since.

Why would we ever stop? Show me another evening of pure pleasure, and I'll be there for it. We don't stop partying because we grow old: we grow old because we stop partying.

undeniably.
Age is merely a figure which often bears little relation to the character of the subjective individual. I know plenty of absolute morons my age, and equally some very respectable and decent people half my age.
Actually this was entirely my point.
I thought it evident from the nature of the silly adjectives I used and the playful tone of my post that I was making a wholeheartedly tongue-in-cheek comment on the aforementioned statement "I think a 40 year old would have a heart attack if they took MDMA."
a playful response by an old duffer, not to be taken with literal animosity.
Whether by your interpretation or my deliberation, the nuance and irony of my post seems to have gone amiss.
