MDMA is making me healthier....

A little sensationalist.... but it's kind of true. What I mean is, ever since my first roll - I've actively taken steps to become healthier, so that I can enjoy rolling on occasion.

Working out regularly, eating healthy (focusing on protein!), sleeping earlier, paying more attention to what vitamins I need and how often I get them, making a conscious effort to be active daily and get plenty of sunlight.

I was - by no means - unhealthy before, but I feel like my desire to want to enjoy MDMA for many years to come has kicked my health habits in to high gear.

I've even started drinking alcohol less, as it hardly appeals to me any longer and I figure why spend time getting shit-faced and sloppy, when I could be healthy instead, and have an awesome time rolling? Why eat a shitty piece of processed junk-food cake on a weekly basis when you can eat five-star, delicious cake, hand-crafted with beautiful, pure ingredients, once every three months?

I space out my rolls - never do it more often than 3 months in between each. Each roll is completely planned, hand-crafted: a group of great friends all equally experienced with similar expectations for the night, an awesome place, a few talented musicians, plenty of toys to play with, things to do.

Anyone else go through a similar, positive change? I've been rolling for over a year now, and only done it about 5 times, but each time is lovely. <3=D

I guess a better way of putting might be the forthcoming excitement of taking MDMA is making you healthier :D

One thing I noticed is my OCD got amplified from MDMA use. As a result of this one of my Obsessions was to go to the gym for two hours per day.

Maybe the MDMA lifestyle made me physically healthier but unfortunately because I abused MDMA in the 90s and also got piped last year my mental health has suffered.

Its an interesting theory however :)

Sorry to hear you got piped! 8o:( & very interesting that it amplified your OCD. Do you attribute that to anything in particular...?

Do you attribute that to anything in particular...?

They say OCD is caused by a lack of or a disruption of your Serotonin distribution.

If this is to be beleived then I attribute my now excessive OCD quality to 100% my abuse of MDMA.

The main things that really got me were the long 3-6 day raves / festivals.

Also two MDMA / BZP mixes. All of this combined I have been properly fucked up.

I took E from the age of 20 - 38. I am now totally allergic to MDMA it is very dangerous for me :( My total lifetime doses are around the 400 mark.

Shame as I had some amazing times on it. I am a living example of what happens if you ignore HR.

Thanks for spreading the word though! Really glad you are able to still encourage people to practice HR even after the unfortunate things that happened. :\

This is why MDMA has such therapeutic possibilities in the field of mental health, but it has to be used in the right way. Abuse definitely leads to negative mental health consequences. If I roll maybe once or twice a year, it's still special enough to where I have ample time to reflect on the experience and discover new things about myself before the next experience. In this sense, the drug does nothing else except better my life.

Abuse is definitely all too common in the rave scenes, unfortunately.

Protein is good to have but you want the right proteins in the right amount. Too much protein is just as bad as not enough. You want to make sure you're getting plenty of phenylalanine in your protein, along with tryptophan and methionine in smaller amounts. You want plenty of carbohydrates also. The ideal diet consists of 55-60%carbohydrates which is mostly fruits, veggies, and starchy veggies like beans & potatoes. Beans are great because they have a nice amount of tryptophan and lots of carbs and other vitamins and minerals. Fats are also important, i believe ideally 25-30% fats which are mostly a 4:1 ratio of omega 6:3. To count calories and adjust accordingly a general rule is fat=9; carb&protein=4 cal each.

^^ agreed, 100%! I do my best to keep it special - and while I still wish I could do it more often, I value how great it is done in the right way while maintaining optimal health.

Sad that too many people abuse it, but I guess that's common with everything. :\

I've gone through a similar change over the last year. I have gone from rolling 2-3 times a month to rolling 2-3 times a year. I have given up alcohol except very rarely and all my focus is on optimizing my brain for the next roll. Thanks for sharing your story. I think MDMA can be a real positive when used correctly.

Happy to hear we're in the same boat! :)

the same as me, alcohol and cigs are out of my life since I've met molly
the excess in all life aspects are bad, balance is the Key!
Learn to enjoy life, wise consumption will never hurt you
cheers to a healthier way of living

Somehow I missed this earlier -- thanks for the advice! I tend to follow about 30-30-40 protein, healthy fats & carbs. I've been looking a lot at tryptophan since I came on BL, learning a lot about it and its good qualities. :)
