Last week was my first time doing mdma. I should also note that I have never taken ecstasy previously. Sorry if the story is a little long. I tried to be as descriptive as possible in order to best find out what happened.

It all started at a party. At 9:00 I drank two shots of whiskey. I have a low tolerance so this was enough to get me a little nutty. I stopped drinking because I knew I would want to take mdma later on. I brought some 00 size capsules that were half full. At 11:00, I took one cap that looked slightly less than half full. I estimated it to be 200mg. (A little much for my first time, I know). Within half an hour I could feel it come on. Everybody, including myself went for a walk outside. It was cold out. My friend gave me his coat to wear. We got to a park and stopped. Despite the cold weather, I felt very good. I remember hugging a male friend and it felt awesome lol. I cant imagine how it would have been if I hugged a female instead. My skin was tingling and I couldnt stop closing my hands to rub my fingers against the palm of my hand. But I was shivering and wanted to go back. We get back to the house and I take off both my coats. I only have a t-shirt on and I am absolutely freezing. I end up putting one coat back on. About 20 minutes later, my feelings start to change. I dont feel as euphoric as I did and gradually start to feel nauseous. I end up sitting down and talking to people. Around 1:00, I end up sitting on a couch alone with no one near me. I feel mildly tired, mildly nauseous, and im shivering. I hear music but I do not feel like dancing at all. I would just close my eyes and run my fingers through my hair. I was tired although I think I was too wired to actually fall asleep.
I start to feel paranoid and wishing I would come down. At 1:30 I ask my buddy who is sober to drive me home as I was imagining myself waking up with puke all over his couch. He drives me home and I just sit down on my computer chair and stare at nothing. My eyes kept rolling back and forth. A half hour passes and I only feel it get worse. So at this point Im like wtf. I go to the washroom, bend down near the toilet and put my finger down my throat. I puke everything up, drink a water, grab a blanket, and lay on my couch. I feel myself come down within half an hour. I fell asleep at some point and woke up with a headache. I was also still feeling mildly wired the next day.

So what do you think happened?

Did I get bunk? Im not 100% sure I took mdma.
Did I take too much for my first time?
Did the liquor I drank before affect me?
Did the cold weather do something?

I should also note I was drinking water throughout the night.

Thanks for any help :)

It is impossible to know whether you got adulterated product without testing it first. However, if your friends were more experienced than you, they would likely be able to gauge the quality of the product. Although testing is preferred, if they claimed to have a great roll then most likely it was MDMA. What did they experience?

You cannot eyeball 200 mg. Even if you had a pharmacy grade scale, you cannot know how much of what you are seeing is pure MDMA. However, if it was 200 mg of pure product, this is not really going overboard. A first-time user might aim for 100-150 mg. 200 would be a strong roll, but not a particularly toxic dose.

The liquor was NOT a good idea, as alcohol has been shown to potentiate the neurtoxic effect of MDMA. Never, ever mix the two, regardless of what others may say. However, this is unlikely to change your roll like you described. If anything you would roll harder.

The cold weather did NOT fuck up your roll either. BUT, it may have saved you from a much worse fate. Lowering body temperature has been proven to reduce the toxicity of MDMA. It may have been a very good thing that you were cold, but it was not the cause of what happened.

Drinking water is also unlikely to modify the experience like this. Next time, drink gatorade, not water. The electrolytes are very important, because over-consumption of water during MDMA use has been linked to a very serious condition known as hyponatremia. This is an imbalance of water/electrolytes in the bloodstream and it can cause massive swelling around the brain and death. Hyponatremia has even been linked to MDMA users that are NOT drinking any fluids! The only treatment for this condition is the slow intake of salt. This is why I recommend the gatorade.

MDMA can be very hard on the stomach. You would not be the first person to throw up.

Normally, MDMA takes 45 minutes to really begin taking effect. Over the course of the next hour, there is a steady climb towards the peak. This can be very intense - your cortisol levels can be increased 800%!!
If you took the pill at 11PM, then you would likely peak around 12:30 - 1:00 AM.

Once you peak, cortisol levels start to level off, and the body releases a massive amount of prolactin/oxytocin. This transition is normally associated with the onset of euphoria. The user goes from feeling 'speedy' to 'pleasurable'. Tactile sensations are at their highest during this time. After an hour or two of euphoria the user begins to level off. Smoking marijuana is known to extend and enhance this euphoric state. Many users will also re-dose, or take more MDMA when they start to come down. This is NOT a good idea, because the second dose produces less euphoria but more toxicity!

Do not listen to anyone that talks about the safety of the 'pure' product. MDMA has been shown to produce changes in the connection between your intestines and your brain. Re-dosing has been proven to produce a greater amount of change. 95% of your serotonin and your serotonin receptors are in your intestines, not your brain. Digestion - the production of bile and intestinal contractions - is the primary purpose of the serotonin system.

It is possible you simply did not have enough food in your intestines. This has resulted in a bad trip for me, both on MDMA and on mushrooms (also a serotonergic drug). However, both of these experiences resulted in serious anxiety. Really, really bad anxiety - something you did NOT describe.

What you did describe is a transition from pleasurable to wirey, weird, and paranoid feelings. While this is fairly normal during the come-down, this is not very common so early on in the experience. If you dosed at 11PM, you should have been rolling between 12-2AM, maybe longer. You described a change around 1AM, but not extreme feelings of anxiety...

Again, what did your friends report?

Perhaps you got a poor quality/adulterated dose.
Btw, cocaine and heroin are NEVER used as adulterants - they are far too expensive for this to make any sense. METH is sometimes used and can increase the wirey, jaw-clenching properties. It also increases toxicity.
Piperazines are sometimes found, which do not tend to mix well with MDMA. Some people describe terrible rolls and headaches that last way too long. This is not what you described.
Caffeine is commonly used, and may be the culprit in your case.

Testing kits are available online. I highly recommend them.
However, you need to understand that pure MDMA still comes with a LOT of risk. The nervous system's connection between the gut and the brain is so intricate and varied that no two people are alike. Some people are at a greater risk of bad reactions to the drug.

Experienced users on Bluelight have agreed that rolling no more than once every THREE months is the minimum spacing they recommend.
Dosing over 300mg in a night is foolish and unnecessary.
Re-dosing carries the greatest risk - this is proven by a mountain of scientific evidence.

Have a healthy diet in the days prior to rolling, drink moderate amounts of fluids containing electrolytes, and keep your body temperature LOW. If you have a bad reaction such as extreme anxiety, it is critical that you lower your body temperature quickly and consider seeking medical attention. Do NOT over-consume fluids.

You may have gotten a low quality dose, but there is no way to know at this point. The important thing is you seem to be ok now. For some unfortunate MDMA users, this is NOT the case. Some of them are seen on Bluelight for weeks/months trying to figure out what is wrong with them.

Be careful.

The one bad thing about ecstasy is when you buy a pill, you really dont know what you're getting. And sadly, you will never know. I know how you feel, for I have definitely taken bunk pills. My motto is: "If you don't know if you're rolling, you probably arent."

I say this because the feeling of MDMA is unlike any other, its truly an amzing feeling.

Also, I have drinkin liquor with MDMA... I had a few beers and then popped a pill an hour late. That night I ended up passing out at a dance club in the middle of the dance floor. I assume I was dehydrated, that may have been your case too. Were you drinking water the entire time?

The weather probably had nothing to do with it.

My best guess is that you didnt get MDMA but rather a shittier substance. Either that or it was the mixture of alcohol and MDMA.

Know who youre getting your pills from! And I hope you try MDMA again in the future, it's truly a beautiful feeling!

Yeah, what did you friends experience? Did they have a proper roll? Your experience does not sound like a 200 mg dose of MDMA. 200 mg on your first time would have you completely floored. You'd feel like you were walking the clouds.

First Bad Comedown: You know your shit man, when i first drop MDMA I would really appreciate if you were to make such an exact analysis of my trip!

One guy took a capsule before me and said he felt "fuckin awesome" an hour into it. He has done e before. By the time I left to go home, he seemed fine and didnt complain to me.
My buddy did half of what was in the capsule. However he was drinking and smoking along with it and told me he didnt feel the effects. He also threw up later on. I thought it was the capsule but he told me it was probably the cigarette he smoked.

edit: One thing I want to mention in my first post...

When I got home and was sitting down at my computer, I put on music I was familiar with and it sounded like the pitch was changing-like it was getting lower. This is what freaked me about and lead me to go to the washroom. I was very paranoid.
You could say I was feeling anxiety. Part of the problem I think was that I was all alone though.

Welcome to Bluelight. I'm sorry to hear you had a rough and confusing first experience. We do not allow pill identification on Bluelight, but you can check out pillreports.com to try to track down the pills you took. In the future a test kit is essential to determining the contents of your pills.
