So I know a person who prefers downers, think heroin, oxycodone, DHC, codeine, Valium, KAva Kava and alcohol - but dislikes psychedelics generally, i.e weed, LSD etc., but has mixed feelings about uppers (generally avoids them - has tried ephedrine).

The biggest concern is heart palpitations and a feeling of things getting out of control (Heroin and Valium dont give u this unless you OD :| )

So this person wants to see what the hype about pure MDMA is like.....would it be advisable to combine it with a little diazepam just to be on the safe side...say 5mg, or just roll and see if diazepam is needed if panic/anxiety/palpitations set in?

Hates paranoia and hates heart palpitations so must embarrasingly admit is a bit scared :o ....... also is the jaw clenching really that bad????

Save the diazepam for if he wants / needs it. Try to atleast wait till after the come up to decide this as alot of people experience anxiety on the come up but that quickly goes away once it truely hits.

MDMA isn't normally one to cause paranoia OR heart palpitations so he should be fine.. Save the diazepam for when needed (IF he gets anxious / comedown) as it could dull the experience.

Awesome, any other tips for a first timer in terms of preparation?

Test your gear, good music, good friends, safe setting and a sober ride home if needed.

As the above poster pointed out, save the diazepam - chances are if the MDMA is good he wont need it.

Remember though, his heart rate will increase at the start, he will feel sweaty and may feel like he needs to be sick, remind him that this is normal and will pass.

Testing your gear is so important though - if he gets anything cut with meth/piperazines then he will probably need the diazapam.

MDMA doesn't really make you feel like your not in control. Unless you over do it, you will be relatively lucid. At worst you will feel some anxiety during the come-up, once the MDMA kicks in you'll forget about all your worries and bask in a seem happy, empathic bliss. :)

thanks for the reassurance - I am sure it is not cut. It comes from a long-standing friend who never ever offered me coke, meth or pills even though he does them a lot. He said it is the first time in 3 years he has come across clean MDMA powder and said It'd be fine for me and offered it so it should be fine in terms of excessive heart palpitations. Apparently only half a point is needed to really get quite happy.

that's great to hear...i prefer being in control or just feel sedated - hence the preference for downers so far. The only thing I don't like about the opiates is that the breathing sometimes slows down quite markedly and that can then give rise to fear of OD etc.

MDMA actually sounds like the only non-downer drug i might really like!!!

I would challenge anyone to not like MDMA...And with the security of sedatives on the side, should you need them, you're probably set to have a great time with peace of mind to boot.

Yeah, you'll love MDMA. Just save the Valium for the comedown if you need it.

Definitely save the benzo for after, mdma is not like classic stimulants. Once you come up its done, your mind will go no where near anxious feelings 'unless' you have some amphetamine cut in your pills : / If he has clean pills i'm almost sure he will have a blast after the come up has passed.

the first time i took mdma, the only anxiety i experienced was right after i took it, wondering what the experience was going to be like.

from the come-up onwards, no anxiety whatsoever. just an awesome, clearheaded, loving experience. this is coming from someone who generally does not like uppers at all.

You might dig MDAI. It's MDMA's less descript, more unassuming, sedate, non-neurotoxic downer of a cousin.

that's really reassuring and .....for somebody who is an opiophile!!!!

Pure MDMA is actually very peaceful and relaxing, unlike stuff that's cut with meth, caffeine or BZP. My friend can't stay awake after taking it, and I often find myself yawning or feeling seriously tranquil after dosing. Valium would obviously amplify this.

I suggest getting some quality stuff and trying it by itself to see what the effects are like unadulterated. Keep the downers on hand, but only take them if you need them.
