MDMA and Rabies Vaccine

Hello!
I have been taking MDMA for some years now and I have never had a bad experience. Next week I am going to a festival and I was really looking forward to taking some. However I need to take my 2nd shot of rabies vaccine the day before, so my questions is:

Can the MDMA interfere with the shot? Can it lead to a bad experience? Will it reduce the effectiveness of the shot?

Doing some research on the shot I found this:

RABIPUR and some medicines may interfere with each other. These include:

  • medicines that lower the body's immunity, such as corticosteroids, cyclosporin or other medicines used to treat cancer (including radiation therapy)

Is it too dangerous to even try?

Thank you

Wow, that's actually a very good question. First instinct was to dismiss it, but then my web searches surprised me.

There seems to be a link between serotonin and immune defense in newer studies. However; it takes more than one or two studies to know for sure, and the study I found (2006) seemed unsure if it was a positive or negative effect.

My layman theory would be this: The vaccine is a dead virus, activating your immune system against rabies. Your immune system will react to it, but it is not a real treat.

You may experience different side effects after the shot, in the first 24-48 hours. These can be unpleasant, but are not dangerous. If I were in your situation I would make a call out from how I felt. If I had lots of side effects, and didn't feel to good I would not roll. If I felt fine I would roll. Probably a good idea not to roll crazy hard, just to prevent a too bad hangover the next day, for your own comfort.

Ask the doctor/nurse giving you the vaccine if you should take any extra precautions, regarding alcohol/rest. Depending on your situation/country; you could also ask about the drugs you plan to do.

After my first shot I experienced some weakness and chills, but nothing too serious that I couldn't take.
I am just worried that it would put too much stress on my body and reduce the effectiveness of the shot (which I wouldn't want) but I guess you are right, I will have to call it out on the spot based on how I feel.

I was hoping to get some feedback from personal experience, as it's difficult to get professional input on this (I don't feel comfortable asking my doctor).

Thank you for the advice though and maybe I will report back on my experience for future reference.

It turned out that I didn't take my 2nd vaccine shot the day before, so I can only talk about my experience with taking MDMA a week after a shot - all good, nothing unusual noticed :)

Glad to hear you had a good time. Keep up the safe approach when using drugs. Better to ask too many questions then one to few. ?

To chime in a bit, perhaps for someone else researching this some day, keep in mind that MDMA has a tremendous dampening effect on your body's immune system. That's why so many people get sick right after a roll. A vaccine with a dead virus poses no threat. However there are vaccines with live viruses. Under normal circumstances the chance of actually catching the illness a live virus vaccine is supposed to prevent is slim to none. Such a vaccin contains a very small amount of virus cells, so small they are killed off before they can pose even a minor threat. Extra measures are also taken to prevent mutation and cripple the virus's ability to replicate. However for example they don't give these types of vaccines to cancer patients because their immune systems are too weak and the vaccine can possibly make them sick. So knowing this, combining MDMA with a (live virus) vaccine might not be such a good idea. Better safe than sorry, certainly with something like rabies (horrible disease) though I don't know if that's a live or a dead vaccine
