MDMA and permanent changes? Neurotoxicity?

You will be fine, personality is in continuous change and it is likely that MDMA can be a life changing experience and change your personality (usually for the better), making you more social etc.

A 30 minutes roll is very unlikely, you most probably had Bk-MDMA (Known as Methylone), which usually only has an hour peak (with the euphoria etc.) followed with a few hours of body buzz.

We all know your this mysterious character named 'X' - theres no need for it.

Read this on neurotoxicity http://dancesafe.org/drug-information/ecstasy-slideshow

Chances of it occuring after one binge are highly unlikely - most research suggests heavy abuse to cause significant neurotoxicity. You'll be back to normal soon; eat a healthy diet, exercise hard, supplement 5HTP & vitamins to potentially speed up the process.

Hope you feel better soon - get a set of scales and weigh what your taking next time.

X cares for his health in all aspects, greatly.

Well if that's the case, tell X that he should start testing his substances before consuming ;)

Dear "Mr. X": It's impossible to answer most of your questions. Not even a doctor can tell you what you've done to yourself, considering you consumed an unknown substance.

Eat healthy, exercise daily, sleep well and take a break from all drugs until you're feeling 100% healthy again. Be patient. You should recover without any issue.

Hello tokers rule

Sorry its a bit difficult to understand what you are saying.

The choice of using X and trying to speak as a third party makes your request kinda difficult to read.

X is not easy as I keep misreading X as the drug also LOL

Maybe you could put a disclaimer at the top of your thread, you could then speak as 'I' and then this way we could grasp what your saying a little easier :-)

So just to recap someone has

taken 3 hits of MDMA prior to this experience

has taken half a cap at a party

the hit felt weird not the usual euphoria

still hallucinating on day 4

worried about permanent brain damage

Hopefully I have understood correct.

Sounds like an RC to me. Hapomen has probably guessed right BK-MDMA or equiviliant.

Some positives - Your previous history is very small just only 3 hits. You only took half.

The hallucinations very very likely will pass.

Brain damage on this type of dose is very unlikely. Very unlikely infact.

Keep us updated on how things are going but my money is on it will pass soon.

Sounds like you might want to break from drugs for six months or so just to be sure you are fully recovered.

Take care

If I had to take a guess at what you took I would say, as others have, a bk substance like methylone or butylone, maybe 4mmc due to the short duration u describe.

Methylone and butylone are both very hard on your serotonin system in my personal experience, it takes me a good 3 days to feel "right" again.

Like others have said be as healthy as possible and perhaps consider taking supplements like 5htp.

I've heard some things about 5htp causing anxiety. Also, I heard a theory that loading with 5htp after rolling might further down-regulate serotonin receptors, or keep the down-regulation present. Plan on buying some in a week or 2.

Thanks for the reply, all these make X feel tons better

I'd say it's all BS tbh. All 5HTP does is skip the L-Tryptothan > Trytophan Hydroxylase (TPH) part of serotonin production.

Naturally we produce serotonin through L-tryptothan oxidised into> TPH broken down to> 5HTP converted into> Serotonin. Not to mention enzymes - this is my basic knowledge - feel free to correct me. Therefore, 5HTP catalyses the way in which we produce serotonin naturally - no down-regulation.

The real importance of 5HTP is the TPH phase. MDMA depletes TPH and inhibits production, it is said that TPH takes, on average, 3 months to fully replenish after a night of rolling - stressing the significance of moderation. Right after rolling serotonin production is very slow and inefficent due to this TPH deficit and thats why 5HTP can help the hangover - avoiding the need for TPH. However, be sure not to overdo it - 4-5 days of 5HTP when you're most down. Constant use can cause a dopamine defficiency.

Hope this all made sense

you'll be fine...i've taken thousands over my short time and i'm still here in good health. sometimes it takes the body a few days to heal itself after a good roll like that.
eat a bunch of fruit and lay in the sunshine for a while..you'll be back to norm soon :)

Most of it did make sense to me, still new to this all. I have a few questions.

1. What causes the anxiety some people experience supplementing with 5htp?
2. Is the serotonin stored, like how an SSRI works, saved up for future release, or is it just released? Still perfecting my logic with the serotonin system
3. How does 5htp work with dopamine and it's receptors?

Thank you for your insight brother

My speculative answers would be:
1. 5HTP is typically taken after rolling. Depleted serotonin caused by MDMA can cause anxiety. However, often full hangover effects don't occur til a few days after rolling hence the term 'suicide tuesdays' after a weekend partying. Taking 5HTP the days after rolling may be wrongly accused of causing the anxiety that MDMA has actually induced and the depleted serotonin. It's by no means a miracle supplement but it can help.

Basically, my guess would be something like this - take MDMA saturday - supplement 5HTP sunday, feeling down but ok - supplement Monday, feeling worse - Tuesday comes and your feeling sad/anxious = blame 5HTP and not MDMA.

2. Serotonin is stored in the axon where it is released into the synapse in small, managable quantities naturally to do its thing. Lower amounts in the axon = less amounts for the synapse = bad mood, anxiety etc etc. Re-read the dancesafe link about how ecstasy works to further understand the serotonin system. 5HTP will increase serotonin in the axon available for use in the synapse.

3. AFAIK, it doesn't act on dopamine at all. But if you flood your brain with too much 5HTP over weeks it will spend the whole time producing serotonin and less on dopamine causing a possible dopamine defficiency. I'd only recommend it 4-5 days after rolling to feel better, after that let your brain do its own thing.

Don't bother with SWIM mate, we don't use it here and it doesn't hide the fact that its probably you :)

Your basically dealing with a longer than usual comedown mate, my mates have had huge comedowns from getting wired every day for a week, personally I can't speak for it but mild disassociation (feeling spaced out) is just another way of it showing. From what you have described it seems like you have stuck it to your tolerance, as have we all at one point with MD. Can't stress how temporary it is so don't worry at all!

If you have had a cathinone (Methylone) then it could be the most likely be the cause of a long comedown as i've had some sodding awful ones off Methedrone (The UK's popular equivilant).

If you are really concerned about neurotoxicity then a few 5-HTP, 1g of Vit C and some weed will help a lot!

From ramming MD every weekend for a good while I can say that it does mess with your cognitive abilities but it quickly restores balance and order, the weed could also be affecting it mind.

From experience MDMA is not very life changing, the only things I take from it is a deeper connection to the people you get wired with and a love for house music! :)

I have visual snow, it's visible in low light conditions but it's fairly common for people, I'm sure it's always been there and I've suddenly become aware of it as a result of reading yet, however I've shut it out of my mind and don't care about it or see it anymore

Sounds a bit like mild HPPD though but I've no clue how you have got that from MD
