MDMA and benzos leading to seizure?

Hey guys, ive been searching the net and failed to find any confirmation on this mixture of psychoactive drugs..

I have a friend who mixed mdma while already intoxicated on etizolam (i know it's not technically a benzo but it still acts on the same receptors so for this situation im hoping its okay to bundle etizolam in with the rest?) who ended up having a seizure shortly into his roll

Years later my ex girlfriend was on benzos (i couldn't say which ones but ive narrowed it down to either diazepam or clonazepam or both lol) and was rolling and ended up seizing in the middle of a busy street downtown..

Both of these incidents the users were abusing the benzos to get intoxicated, and the mdma dosage was average to high to get really strong roll and both incidents the users weren't on any kind of mdma bender or anything like that...

Is it possible for a mix of benzos and mdma or other stimulants to cause seizure? I was always under the impression that benzos aided in the prevention of seizures lol

Thanks guys and gals

I suppose that anything is possible but I used benzos medicinally for years with MDMA and never suffered any ill effects.

Are your friends seizure prone?

Someone else would have to step in here but it seems odd to me that MDMA would cause a seizure when mixed with benzodiazepines. Its more likely that they had an already low threshold for seizures from doing benzos recreationally too often and MDMA crashed through that threshold if you ask me but I'm not an expert on the interaction of the two.

Were the pills/crystals tested in any way before taking them? Can you confirm it was MDMA?

This doesn't really make sense. Seems to be a variable missing. Are they on any other medications that you may or may not know about? Are you certain the chemical was mdma and are you sure of their dosages?

I can't say this for everyone but myself, my boyfriend, and a friend have done enough MDMA and amphetamines and almost always use benzos (Xanax, Valium, or etizolam) on the come down, to sleep. It hasn't caused seizures for any of us.

It seems odd that this would happen but not impossible.
Like the others have said, maybe there is another medication mixed in?

Clonazepam is an anticonvulsant ....benzos generally kill a roll done simultaneously. Are you sure it was tested MDMA?

Sorry for the late response.. i know for a fact that the two individuals don't test their mdma so i suppose it could be a different chemical but other people using the same batch of "mdma" (on both occasions) enjoyed the roll with no complaints. These users are experienced users and would know if it was a significantly different chem such as methamphetamine or amphetamine ...

They're not prone to seizures but as mentioned, i suppose since they use benzos on a very regular basis, that they could have been prone due to mdma lowering the seizure threshold and at the same time maybe it pushed them into withdrawal sooner than expected... seems unlikely though since they were using the benzos same day so seizure due to withdrawal just seems too soon, but its the only thing i can really come up with

Edit: im unsure of other medication used but i think its unlikely that they were using anything but the mentioned drugs

I can't comment specifically on benzos but my doctor has told me that tramadol and mdma has a high risk of causing seizures due to them both lowering the seizure threshold so yeah it may be that, not experienced it myself but it's probably not the best idea to use too many benzos while on mdma anyway, unless it was cut with pma or something which is possible then not much other solutions
