hey yall, so swim is going to an edm show tomorrow and has never tried mdma before. swim really wants to try it but is worried about the interaction with swims medication. swim is taking 174mg of aplenzin (bupropion hydrobromide). swim has looked for answered regarding aplenzin, but since the drug is so new swim has only been able to find things regarding wellbutrin, which even still is full of conflicting information.

mostly swim just wants to know how dangerous it could be. swim takes aplenzin very early in the morning, and wouldnt be taking mdma until late evening (not sure if that is relavent). swim has no history of seizures. cant figure out through all the conflicting reports about mdma and welbutrin what to do, and not sure if aplenzin is different enough from welbutrin to make a significant difference.

thanks yall!

(i promise i searched here before posting, like i said before, couldnt find anything addressing aplenzin directly)

Since bupropion is metabolized to hydroxybupropion by the CYP2B6 enzyme, drug interactions with CYP2B6 inhibitors are possible: this includes medications like paroxetine, sertraline, norfluoxetine (the active metabolite of fluoxetine), diazepam, clopidogrel, and orphenadrine. The expected result is the increase of bupropion and decrease of hydroxybupropion blood concentration. The reverse effect (decrease of bupropion and increase of hydroxybupropion) can be expected with CYP2B6 inducers, such as carbamazepine, clotrimazole, rifampicin, ritonavir, St John's Wort, phenobarbitone, phenytoin and others.[123]

Bupropion is an inhibitor of CYP2D6.[123] Hydroxybupropion is an inhibitor of that enzyme in vitro.[124] A significant increase in the concentration of some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 (venlafaxine, desipramine and dextromethorphan, but not fluoxetine or paroxetine) has been observed when they are taken with bupropion.[123][125]

From Wiki above ^^

I notice bupropion is a CYP2D6 enzyme inhibitor. Warning so is MDMA. Piperazines are CYP2D6 enzyme inhibitors and interact awfully with MDMA.

I would approach mixing this medication with MDMA with great caution.

To be honest mixing any antidepressant with MDMA is a bad idea. There will be a reason you are on the antidepressant likely involving a chemical imbalance MDMA certainly wont help.
